The upcoming Modern Warfare 2 game has already fans excited with the various additions that are present in the game. One of these additions is the Perk system which is a bit different from its previous iterations in the previous Call of Duty games.

In this guide, we’ll have a look at what these perks are and how they work.

Equipment and Field Upgrades Explained | Perk System Guide in Modern Warfare 2

The Perks system isn’t entirely new as it’s already been introduced in previous games. However, it does offer new perks and changes to already existing ones. In Modern Warfare 2, there are 8 base perks that you can gain access to.

There’s also the Perk Package that contains 2 base perks as well as a Bonus and Ultimate perk that you can earn during a match. The eight base perks that were mentioned previously are as follows:

In game modes that are non-round-based, you will earn a Bonus perk four minutes after the match has started. Meanwhile, you can get an Ultimate perk eight minutes into the game. You can speed up the timer by getting kills, assists, and more during a match.

Equipment and Field Upgrades

Aside from perks and perk packages, there are also equipment and field upgrades that you can apply in your loadout. These are abilities that are either active or passive, and they bring a handful of gameplay changes and advantages during a match.

Equipment upgrades are categorized into tacticals and lethals depending on their function. Some good examples include Flash Grenade, Gas Grenade, Stim, Drill Charge, C4, Thermite, and Throwing Knife.

Meanwhile, field upgrades can either be an ability or an item that you have to manually activate. Each of them grants a certain advantage during combat. They’re also not readily available at the start of a match, instead only appearing after several minutes in.

You’ll be able to know if you can use them by the meter that you can find on the lower right side of your HUD.
