Similar to past Call of Duty games, the journey to reach and unlock your 1st Prestige is one of the first milestones you have to look forward to in Black Ops 6.
Prestige, for those unaware, is a feature that allows you to reset your level so you can continue leveling more. You’ll get exclusive cosmetics and rewards to show off your Prestige Rank, too. If nothing else, it lets other players know that you’re willing to invest a lot of time into the game!
In this guide, we’ll tell you how to reach your first Prestige and how to unlock it.
How to Reach 1st Prestige | Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
You can get your 1st Prestige once you reach Level 55. However, you technically have to max out your XP while you’re Level 55 as well, effectively making it so you’re at Level 56. Either way, the fastest way to gain XP and level up is to play the objective-based game modes.
Kill-based game modes, like Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All, give you fewer opportunities to get XP. You only get XP from kills, which is lesser than XP from objectives. What’s more, matches are usually shorter so you have less time to gain XP. Unless you’re a pro who can get massive amounts of kills every match, refrain from playing these modes if you want XP.
Also, if you haven’t yet, we recommend using settings to turn off blur before you dive too deep into Black Ops 6 multiplayer. Better visual clarity goes a long way in a competitive game like this, believe us!
It’s also important to use every source of Double XP you can, with the main one being Double XP Weekends. As any COD veteran should know by now, you gain twice as much XP from every source while playing during weekends.
If you can’t (or simply don’t want to) play during the weekends, you can use Level Double XP Tokens instead. You can get them for free as rewards from the Battle Pass, leveling up, and other events. Alternatively, you can purchase them in the in-game store. Do keep in mind that their duration seems to include waiting in lobbies, though, at least currently.
How To Prestige
Once you finally manage to reach the max Level in Black Ops 6, it’s time to get your 1st Prestige. To start, head to the Barracks tab in the main menu and select Progression.
Then, select the rightmost box for Prestige.
Now, select Prestige 1 and view its details.
You’ll now see a screen showing you some details about Prestige, mainly telling you that there are 10 Prestige ranks for you to climb through. Wait for the countdown next to the Continue button to finish and then click on it.
In the next screen, you once again get some more details on how Prestige works. Most notably, remember that Prestige will reset your Level back to 0. This also means that you’ll lose weapon unlocks, but your individual progression for weapons and operators is kept. You also don’t lose any customizations or masteries or anything of the sort. Once again, just click on Continue after the countdown.
At long last, you get one more screen. Now you just need to click and hold on the topmost button to Enter Prestige 1. Fill up the bar and you’ll officially enter your first Prestige!
This will also give you a Permanent Unlock Token. You can use it on your favorite piece of equipment to have it permanently unlocked even after you Prestige again. We recommend using this on higher-level gear since it’s harder to unlock but focus on your favorites. You’ll get 1 Permanent Unlock Token for every future Prestige, too.
But well, that’s everything you need to know to reach your 1st Prestige in Black Ops 6. There are only 9 more Prestige ranks for you to go through, and they all work pretty much the same way as this.
