How to Play Steam Games on Your Phone

Playing games on your phone can be a lot of fun. However, it can be even better!

Today, we’re bringing you a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to play Steam games via your mobile phone and how to set it up. Let’s get started!

1. Download Steam Link

To start this guide, you will need an app from Steam designed specifically for this purpose. The name of the app is Steam Link. It is available both on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store so it doesn’t matter whether you are on your iPhone or Android phone, you can follow along.

Please note that the app is specifically named Steam Link, not Steam Mobile.

2. Get Started

Once you have successfully installed the app on your device, open it. You will be greeted with a huge “Get Started” blue button which you need to click on. Depending on what you want to do now, you will have to select either of the 2 options. Either to pair a controller or use a touch screen.

For this, we highly recommend using a controller because it is much more convenient and efficient.

Now go to Steam on your PC and open it.

3. Enable Steam Remote Play

Once you’re logged into Steam on your PC, head over to the settings menu (top left corner of your screen) and find the Remote Play section as indicated in the screenshot below. Enable the Remote Play option (tick the box). This will enable us to play Steam games on our mobile phones.

Once you tick this box, go back to your mobile phone and check your app. You will see that it now says “Connect to Computer” and your PC’s name on the screen.

Select your PC.

Your phone and your PC must be connected to the same network for Steam Link to work.

Once you click on your PC in the menu above, you will see a 4-digit code on the screen. Remember it and go to your PC where you will have to enter that same code to authorize this device. If you entered the correct code, your mobile device will now be testing the network speed between your PC and your mobile device.

4. Steam Pairing Checklist

For Steam Link to work successfully, you need these 3 things ticked.

• Authorized PC,
• Controller (preferably),
• Good connection.

5. Start Playing on Steam Link

All there is left to do is to click on the “Start Playing Now” button and select the game you wish to run.

We remind you once more that both the Steam Link on your phone and Steam on your PC must be running at the same time for this to work.
