You will eventually find an Ironium Vein that you can mine as you explore the underground part of the world in SteamWorld Build.
You can mine it with the right Extractor, which will allow you to gather Ironium. Ironium can later be refined for use in advanced buildings!
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to mine any Ironium Vein that crosses your path.
How to Use the Ironium Extractor to Mine Any Ironium Vein
You can only mine an Ironium Vein if you use the Ironium Extractor, which is one of the many extractors you get in SteamWorld Build.
This extractor unlocks naturally once you reach a certain milestone and requires 4000 Money, 10 Tools, and 6 Sheet Metal to build. It will also require 20 Money and 5 Engineers for its upkeep.
Once you have access to an Ironium Extractor and the materials to build it, you just need to find an Ironium Vein. Considering you’re here, we assume you’ve already found one!
Anyway, you now just need to select your Workshop from the Facilities toolbar.
Then, select the Ironium Extractor to start the building process.
Lastly, just find the Ironium Vein you wish to mine and place the Ironium Extractor next to it.
The game won’t let you place it if there’s no Ironium Vein nearby or there’s already an Ironium Extractor mining the vein.
Do note that you will also need to have a Mechanics Quarter and Mechanics to build the Ironium Extractor!
All that’s left to do now is to just kick back and relax while your extractor and engineers do all the work. These hardworking chaps have it all covered, as long as you’ve got the funds to support them.
Phew, there you have it. You can repeat this process anytime you encounter a new Ironium Vein, provided you’ve got the necessary resources for building and maintaining the needed extractors.
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
