Permanent perks ARE BACK in Black Ops 7 Zombies. However, they aren’t the same as the old system from Black Ops 2. There’s no hidden criteria or strange challenges behind them this time. Instead, the system is tied directly to perk progression and the game’s T.E.D.D. Tasks, which function like this year’s version of Trials.

T.E.D.D. Tasks

To even get a shot at earning a permanent perk, you have to be fully perked. That means buying all 12 Perk-a-Colas on the map. Once you are fully stacked, start running T.E.D.D. Tasks.

These tasks give you better loot depending on the “mastery” level you finish at. It is always recommended to finish at the orange (legendary) rating due to there being a chance to maybe get two perks and legendary loot.

When the task wraps up, a chest spawns. Again, depending on what mastery rating you finished it at, it will determine the look of the chest (always the orange one tied to the legendary tier). Open it, and you’re rolling the dice a bit. However, it is likely (if not guaranteed) to give you at least one mystery perk.

Occasionally, the game throws you two permanent perks at once. If you click them quickly, back-to-back, then you will only see yourself drinking one.

What does Permanent Perks Actually Mean?

What the perk actually does is simple: if you go down, you don’t lose it. That’s the whole point. It stays with you for the entire match. Whether the perk survives a full bleed-out hasn’t been confirmed yet, but going down alone won’t strip it from your loadout.

And unlike the quirky versions seen back in BO2, these perks don’t have hidden stat boosts or odd behavior. They’re straightforward and actually match the name, permanent perks that stay in your lineup.

It’s a cleaner system than the old days, and it rewards you for playing well rather than hunting for obscure triggers. If you’re grinding Zombies and want to lock in those core perks permanently, max out your perk bar, tackle T.E.D.D. Tasks, and push for legendary mastery. That’s the entire loop.
