The Workshop is one of your most important buildings in SteamWorld Build, so you’ll want to boost its efficiency by adding items.

Items have a variety of benefits for your buildings, so you’ll want to make sure to know how to use them!

In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to add items to your workshop or any other building in the game!

How to Add Items to Workshops or Any Other Building

Source: QuickTips

You can add items to any building by clicking on the Item Tool icon on your toolbar. “Any building” of course also includes underground ones, such as the Workshop!

Once you click on the Item Tool, every building will display its Item Slots above them. This allows you to quickly see which slots are empty and which ones aren’t.

Now, you just need to click on whichever building you want to slot items into, such as your Workshop!

Additionally, you’ll also notice a pink plus sign in the corner of the slot when you have an item available for that specific building. After all, not every item can boost every building!

For example, this Cactus Farm has the pink plus sign because the player has items with Production Chance boosts. Since the building produces goods, this item is perfect for it.

Do note that the list displays every single item you have, including the ones that are already assigned to other buildings.

This is shown by the small icon next to the item, which tells you which building they’re assigned to.

Lastly, note that for some buildings you’ll need to click the “Edit” button under the Equipment section of their description. This brings up their item slots and lets you assign any items you want.

If you’re wondering where to get items as well, you can buy them from the Train Station’s shop or by finding them in chests within the mines.

The Train Station’s shop refreshes every now and then, so check it often!
