If you are new to Guild Wars 2, obtaining awesome gears can be challenging. First, you need to decide which build you are going to prioritize, and choose the stats best suited for that build. At first, you can just use random gears with stats you want for your playstyle, but the same cannot be said as you progress in the game.
As you level up, opponents get stronger. Therefore, you need to farm better gears. If you don’t know where and how to obtain them, don’t worry. We got you!
How to Obtain the Best Gear in Guild Wars 2
In Guild Wars 2, gears can be leveled up by completing the heart quests. Gears have 3 tiers, and they are:
- Exotic, Orange
- Character Bound

- Cheap
- Ascended, Pink
- Account Bound
- Best in Slot(BiS) for stats
- Time Investment
- Legendary, Purple
- Expensive
- Visual Effects
- All characters can use it simultaneously
- Can swap to any stat type without any cost
You can obtain the best gears by killing enemies or buying from the Trading Post.
Obtaining the Best Gear

You are going to need the best for each equipment: Armor, Amulet, Ring, Back Accessory, and Weapon.
Armor
For the Armor, there are 3 ways to obtain cool gears:
- Buy Exotic gear from the Trading Post
- Do World vs World that gives Warlord’s armor box
- Participating in events on the first map of the Heart of Thorns
Amulet
For the Amulet, get the Bag of Laurels from the daily log-in rewards. Do this for a month, and you are going to have a good amount of it. Use the Bag of Laurels to buy ascended amulets from the Laurel Merchant.
Ring
The best Rings can be obtained by spending pristine Fractal Relics in the Fractals of the Mists. You can do this daily.
Back Accessory
To obtain the best Back Accessory, you need the Heart of Thorns DLC, in the Bitterfrost Frontier. Talk to the vendor in Sorrow’s Eclipse Sanctuary waypoint and give them what they want.
You can also go to Living Worlds Season 3 Episode 2 in Ember Bay and exchange petrified wood for the accessory.
Weapon
The weapons are better if you get ascended early on. You can take advantage of the Specialization Collections for cool ones, however, you may not like the specific weapon type.
If you do not want the stat, you can simply change them by bringing any ascended weapon or armor to the Mystic Forge, along with an Exotic Insignia (armor) or Exotic Inscription (weapon), 5 Glob of Ectoplasm, and 1 Anthology of Heroes.
