Genshin Impact – How to Unlock Phlogiston Extraction Research Center

The Phlogiston Extraction Research Center is a pretty interesting and useful location that you can get to while playing Genshin Impact’s latest expansion. It can be a very difficult location to get to though, as it is extremely well hidden and the path to it is crawling with enemies.

Our guide will be looking at where the research center is located, and how you can get to it. So without any more delay, let’s get straight into it.

How to Unlock Phlogiston Extraction Research Center

The Phlogiston Extraction Research Center can be found deep underground, and getting to it will require you to travel through an enemy-infested valley. The image above shows where the research center is.

Most of the enemies that you encounter in your way can very easily be skipped. So you can simply run past them to avoid fighting them.

Entering the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center

Near the end of this path, the game will let you know that you are entering the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center. When you get to this point, you will need to go even deeper into the valley. You can go deeper by jumping down when you reach the end of your path.

Jumping down will put you right in front of a couple of enemies. One of the enemies here will drop a key when you take them down, so make sure you don’t skip these enemies. The key you get can be used to open a chest next to the two enemies you defeated.

After you loot the chest, look behind you and you will a bunch of metal pipes and magma blocking your path. Progressing through this area will require you to use a Yumkasaur. If you don’t know how they work, Yumkasaur’s are nimble creatures that have very good mobility. They are a big part of the new expansion, and a lot of quests will require you to use them. So after you switch over to the Yumkasaur, all you need to do is follow the path the pipes take you on. The pipes will take you straight to the entrance of the Phloiston Extraction Research Center.

Near the end of the pipes area, a small blue ball will drop into the lava below.

When you get to the end of this area, you will find a metal door blocking your path. To open this door, you will need to pick up the blue ball you saw before and place it into the mechanism in front of the door. Doing this will raise the metal gate, allowing you to enter the research center. You can pick up the object using the Yumkasaur’s grappling ability.
