Get your guitar fingers ready!

With Fortnite Festival having come out with new Challenges, you will find on your home screen one such challenge is to acquire 20 Band Stars.

The new Fortnite Festival plays out just like old-school Guitar Hero. You can switch out your instruments but ultimately the gameplay style will remain the same.

Before continuing, you’ll want to have a few trial runs and make sure you’ve set the controls to whatever works best for you.

How To Earn Band Stars With Others

To begin with, you’ll want to load up the Main Stage event from your Festival Playlist.

The best way to gain Band Stars is to play with friends, since you’ll only start earning them if your whole group stays together.

Alternatively, you can play with others by filling the lobby, but be aware this might take longer.

Next head over to the music selector. The best route is to set four songs, so you can consecutively play back-to-back. You need at least two songs otherwise you star progress won’t save.

There are two star meters, one on the left and one on the right. The Band Star meter is shown in the bottom right corner of the screen.

To fill it up, you’ll need to be consecutively hitting the notes on the screen and building up combo rallies.

These will multiply the amount of points you get and slowly build up your stars. The performance of your teammates is also included here – so choose wisely!

Over drive bonus for band stars

A top tip is to save your x2 band multiplier for strategic moments. The best time is when you reach the chorus of a song and know that there’s going to be a lot of notes and combos to hit. Make sure your teammates are also turning this on to truly quadruple your score.

Multiple playthroughs of the same song mean you’ll learn the notes and know the best moments to use the multiplier.

To hit the challenge, you’ll need to reach twenty Band Stars, so hunker down to have to rinse and repeat to really get a feel for the mechanics and the songs. Hopefully, this guide has given you some direction to get started!
