Enshrouded has introduced a grappling hook mechanic to the game. This acts as a way to add some verticality to the game’s world.
It also adds much needed movement variety to make traversal more enjoyable and interesting.
You have to craft your own grappling hook before you can use it. This is one of the first quality-of-life improvements you’ll feel in the game. Here’s a quick guide on how to get your first Grappling Hook.
How to Craft and Use Grappling Hook
To craft your own Grappling Hook, you need to collect the necessary resources. Once you’ve done that, go to the blacksmith to receive the appropriate quest. All that’s left to do now is craft it using your workbench.
There will be a point in your playthrough where you will be outright told to get a Grappling Hook by Oswald Anders, the blacksmith. This will start the quest called “Crafting a Grappling Hook”.
You will need to use your workbench to craft the Grappling Hook. Before you can do that, you need some resources. These resources are:
At least 4 pieces of Metal Scraps
At least 7 pieces of String
At least 10 pieces of Shroud Spores
At this point, you will have to go and collect any of the resources you’re missing. None of these items are particularly rare and hard to locate, so don’t fret. You should be looting all the barrels, crates, and whatever else you find.
You should also seek out enemy camps and fight the enemies there. By doing that and looting the surrounding area, you will be able to collect the necessary resources. This is fairly early in the game, so you don’t need to farm too much. Just be thorough in your looting and return to the blacksmith.
Once you have the necessary materials, craft your grappling hook. Once done, your quest will be updated and you will see a pop-up saying Special Item Acquired.
All you need to do now is simply equip the Grappling Hook. Once you approach the appropriate spot to use a Grappling Hook, press E. Your character will now grapple to that point.
