Having trouble choosing what build to make your player in EA FC 26? You aren’t alone.

With 13 Archetypes to choose from and even more customization options underneath each, it can be very overwhelming. This guide will break down each Archetype you have the option of choosing, making it your one-stop shop:

How Do You Level Up Your Archetype?

When you start playing Clubs, you get to pick your first Archetype.

Every Archetype has levels, starting at 1 and ending at 50 (from launch, however, they plan to keep adding levels as the game progresses). The more you level up the Archetype, the more perks you receive with it.

You must choose carefully because once you pick what Archetype you want on a character, it can not be changed unless you add another one to the character. But it progresses separately.

For example, if you have one Archetype at Level 20 and decide to add another, it will start at Level 1.

You can unlock more Archetypes through Club Coins, FC Points, or special items.

By playing more matches, you earn Archetype XP. The amount you earn depends on 3 things:

  1. Your Role Rating from the match
  2. The match type
  3. Your in-game statistics, like goals and passes, etc.

You can also get Archetype XP from Skill Games weekly, but be aware that there is a cap.

And once you meet all of the attribute criteria, you can pick a specialization that gives you a bonus Signature Perk and a PlayStyle+ to equip to the Archetype.

Let’s look at each Archetype and its specializations:

Which One Should You Choose?

Well… that’s completely up to you. But with various customization options, you can make your play style what you want it to be.

If you pick a Defender role, you aren’t necessarily stuck, as you can easily make your defender a more hybrid position. However, they are primarily focused on the defense of the team.

The Midfield positions are focused on setting up plays and passing, but with adjustments, they can be made to be more offensive and aggressive.

The Forwards are your goal-scorers, and your Goalkeepers prevent your team from getting scored on, so there isn’t too much wiggle room on these positions, but they are still very much able to be customized to the player’s liking. Make sure also to master the new dribble skills in FC 26, just to get that advantage over your opponents.

So, think about what style you really want to play. And if you don’t like it, switch the Archetype. Break ankles, not controllers.
