You can find a dog statue puzzle during Chapter 9: Ancestral Forge in DOOM: The Dark Ages.

This dog statue puzzle works similarly to the ones in some previous chapters. You have to find all the different statues hidden in the level and break them. Do that and you will remove the barrier leading to a reward, which is a Wraithstone in this case.

Once you get there, you should notice a breakable wall, as shown above. Charge at it with your shield to destroy it.

Then, go into the secret room you just opened up and collect the purple Secret Key within. It will be required later on for the dog statue puzzle.

Now, it’s time to start the puzzle itself properly. Go to the spot shown on the map above. It’s to the back and right of the area, if you use the level’s starting point as a reference.

The puzzle now is similar to the dog statue puzzle back in Chapter 6. You have to hunt down three different dog statues in the level and hit them with your shield throw to break them. Do so, and you’ll get access to the Wraithstone behind the red barrier!

Finding the Three Statues

For the first dog statue, face the barrier blocking the Wraithstone and turn to your right. You’ll see the statue in front of you, on a ledge high in front of you.

Moving on, go back to the start of the level and go to the spot marked on the map above.

Once you get there, you’ll notice a locked gate. Interact with it to use the purple Secret Key and open it.

Go into the previously locked room to find an enemy and the second dog statue. Break the statue and move on.

Lastly, go to the spot marked on the map above. If you rotate the map so that it faces the same direction you start the level in, you have to go to the “westernmost” room in the middle.

You’ll find the third and final dog statue sitting there, along the cliff edge.

With that done, you just have to return to the spot where the three spectral dog statues were. You’ll find a group of enemies spawned in there now, but they shouldn’t be too tough to take out. Either way, the red barrier protecting the Wraithstone is gone now! So, you just need to walk up to it and claim your well-deserved reward.

So, there you have it! That’s all you need to do for the dog statue puzzle during Chapter 9: Ancestral Forge in DOOM: The Dark Ages.
