Dead Island 2 will have you collecting a lot of different weapons to kill zombies with. On top of that, you can greatly modify them using crafting.
The crafting system is also greatly expanded when compared to the first game and Dead Island Riptide. You will be able to customize your weapons way more as you take on Califoria’s zombie apocalypse.
In this short guide, we’ll tell you the weapon types you can find and how the game’s crafting system works.
Everything You Need to Know About Weapons and Crafting in Dead Island 2
Weapons in this game are available in four main types which are the following:
Blunt Weapons– Edgeless weapons that can break bones. This is what baseball bats and hammers belong to.
Sharp Weapons – Edged weapons capable of cutting off limbs with ease. As you might expect, this is where machetes, knives, and swords would fit.
Firearms – Ranged weapons that require ammunition. Features pistols, shotguns, rifles, and the like belong to this category.
Throwables – A special weapon type that covers anything that’s used up by throwing it such as shurikens and grenades.
Blunt and sharp weapons will break down eventually and will need repair once that happens. Firearms will just require you to get more ammunition for them.
Throwables are a bit unique in this game. You don’t consume them upon use, but they have a cooldown. Also, you can’t throw them constantly but you won’t need to loot or craft them either!
Most weapons can also be upgraded and modified using the in-depth crafting system. Yes, even guns! You can modify your weapons at any Workbench you find. However, that means you can’t craft out in the world.
Upgrading in this game works on a Mod and Perks system. Each weapon will allow you to apply one mod and a set of perks.
Mods are big changes for every weapon. They will boost damage, add special effects, or even add elemental damage types to your weapon!
Perks are more specific and limited but still offer large boons. They have a large variety of effects, such as giving you lifesteal, boosting your critical damage, or making different types of zombies explode when knocked down.
Mods and perks will both require you to find Blueprints and crafting materials. You can obtain them by exploring the game’s world and completing quests.
That’s the gist of the game’s weapons and crafting systems. Make good use of crafting to make some weapons of mass destruction.
Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
