If you are a spaceship enthusiast, then you must try and experience the excitement of playing Cosmoteer. Here, you can create your own spaceship on your own will and design it from scratch.
As a space explorer, you will also be encountering different spaceships of other players. Your objective is to fight them and be the stronger one standing. However, battling them is easier said than done.
Railfanning or fanning is one of the basics that you have to master in order to survive any encounter.
To delve deeper into railfanning, we made this brief guide to help you learn everything that you need to know.
Cosmoteer – How to Aim and Shoot at Your Target
Railfanning is what you have to do to make your attacks accurate and precise. You will do this to rotate the guns and shoot at the desired location or the target location.
To make your attacks better, you have to first set up hotkeys for your railguns. You can do this by double-clicking or shift-clicking your railguns. Then, press Ctrl plus the number.
The next thing you need to do is set your rails to Fire At Target. Doing this will make your ship shoot directly at the enemy ship in the direction you have selected. Otherwise, your attacks will just land on the selected portion and will miss the real target as shown in the picture below.
After you have set up your rail guns, you should also learn how to set up your target.
If you are using direct control, the only thing you have to do is right-click on the area of the opponent where you want to land an attack. Easy peasy!
However, an easier way to launch an attack is to use the hotkey that you set up earlier. To attack, press the assigned hotkey and right-click on the parts to target them. But if you want to launch consecutive attacks, hold shift while clicking to queue the targets.
Advanced Aiming
Having good targeting requires you to have enough practice and some trial and error. But if you are already done in that phase, then you can proceed to advanced aiming.
The first thing you have to consider is the size of the target. If you are to deal with large targets such as the one in the photo shown, you have to aim at the back of the target. Because you are aiming at the back of the target, you will still be able to shoot at that priority spot.
Another targeting practice you can do is by predicting the next move of your opponent.
If you have noticed that the enemy ship keeps on going to the left side relative to your ship, you can aim a little more to the left of the current position of your opponent. This is because there is still a delay in firing your attacks.
Another thing that you have to be particular about is panning your ship. Remember that there is momentum involved after launching an attack so it is important to always guide your ship on where it should face next.
In doing this, you can get better targeting. Make sure not to pan your ship too little and too far. If you have positioned your ship perpendicular to the location of your opponent, then consider it a big mistake.
You must keep in mind that this is also your ship’s way of recovering from the last attack you have made.
