If you’re wondering how gear progression works in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, you’ve come to the right place!
There are a lot of systems at play in this game. It’s not just as simple as picking up whatever equipment has the bigger numbers… though that is part of it, sure. But you also have to know where to get gear from, how to get better quality gear, reforge it, refine it, etc.
Well, we’ll detail that and more in this guide! Read on once you’re ready to start making the most of your gear, adventurer.
Complete Gear Progression Guide | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance
How to Get Gear

In Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, you’ll get gear from many different sources. These are the main activities that will give you gear:
- Chaotic Realm (Regular Dungeons)
- Dragon Shackles Raid
- Event Activities
- Gear Exchange
- Pioneer Rewards
- Unstable Space (Daily Dungeon)
- World Bosses
Worth noting, most of these activities will also give higher-level gear as a server gets older. The only exceptions are the Gear Exchange, Chaotic Realm, and Dragon Shackles Raid.

Out of all of these, though, the Chaotic Realm dungeons are by far the best. They give the best amount and quality of gear for your time, overall. You can participate in the Chaotic Realms by going to the “Unit X” Research Facility in Asterleeds, shown above.
Alternatively, you can just use the Party Finder feature. You can access it most easily by pressing the “I” key on PC. It lets you join other players who are also looking to go through these Chaotic Realm dungeons.

On top of that, it’s important to know that the difficulty of the Chaotic Realm also affects the loot quality! The higher the difficulty, the better the loot is, as follows:
- Epic Level 40 Gear – Normal and Hard
- Legendary Level 40 Gear – Hard
- Epic and Legendary Level 60 Gear – Master 1 to Master 5
- Epic and Legendary Level 80 Gear – Master 6 to Master 10+
Lastly, it’s worth noting that not all Chaotic Realms and difficulties will be available from the start. They unlock gradually based on the server’s age since launch. So, you’ll just need to wait for better gear!
Nonetheless, the basics of obtaining gear are pretty simple. To summarize, you really just want to farm the hardest Chaotic Realm you can handle. That’s about it!
Where to Get Specific Gear

Now, you know the general gist of where to get gear from. But not all types of gear drop from every source of gear! Instead, different gear types only drop from specific sources. Here’s a quick chart with all gear types and their best sources for farming:
| Gear Type | Best Sources |
| Armors and Rings | Tempest Ogre (Boss) Towering Ruin (Chaotic Realm) |
| Boots and Charms | Lizardman King (Boss) Kanamia Trial (Chaotic Realm) |
| Bracelets | Goblin King (Boss) Dragon Claw Valley (Chaotic Realm) |
| Gauntlets and Earrings | Celestial Flier (Boss) Goblin Nest (Chaotic Realm) |
| Helmets and Necklaces | Storm Goblin King (Boss) Tina’s Mindrealm (Chaotic Realm) |
| Weapons | Muku King (Boss) Dark Mist Fortress (Chaotic Realm) |
It’s also worth noting that you do not need Boss Loot Keys if you wish to farm bosses for gear specifically. Those only give you some extra resources and the like!
However, there’s a cap of 50 kills a day when farming bosses. If you’ve already killed a boss 50 times before the daily reset, you will not get gear drops from it anymore. Keep that in mind when target farming.
Gear Attribute Limitations

Another important quirk of gear in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is that there are Attributes that can’t appear together, which is worth keeping in mind for progression.
This means that, for example, Helmets with Strength as a Basic Attribute can’t have Versatility as an Advanced Attribute.
Here’s a full chart showing you all of the Advanced Attributes that can not appear depending on gear type and Basic Attributes:
| Basic Attribute On Gear | |||
| Strength | Intellect | Agility | |
| Gear Type | Impossible Advanced Attribute | ||
| Helmet | Versatility | Crit | Haste |
| Armor | Luck | Crit | Mastery |
| Gauntlets | Haste | Versatility | Crit |
| Boots | Mastery | Luck | Crit |
| Earrings | Mastery | Versatility | Haste |
| Necklace | Haste | Luck | Mastery |
| Ring | Luck | Mastery | Versatility |
| Bracelet (L) | Crit | Haste | Versatility |
| Bracelet (R) | Crit | Mastery | Luck |
| Charm | Versatility | Haste | Luck |
Worth noting that these limitations do not apply to gear obtained from Dragon Shackles Raid rewards. Those will always come with the best Basic Attribute and two of the best Advanced Attributes for your current class and spec! Even when it’s not possible on regular gear.

Speaking of Attributes, always look out for the thumbs-up icon next to them on item descriptions. This denotes that they are ideal for your current class and spec.
Reforging Gear

Another important part of gear progression in this game is the ability to Reforge it. You can do this by talking to Maxim at the Artisan Guild in Asterleeds, as shown above.

This will allow you to spend materials, such as Reforge Stones, to improve your equipment. Every time you reforge a piece of gear, you will increase its Perfection. This has a cap of 100 Perfection, as of this writing.

Every time the Perfection increases, the two set Advanced Attributes on the gear will increase slightly. You can see these on the rightmost side of the screen, as marked on the screenshot above.

Additionally, you will also reroll the third Advanced Attribute! This is also shown on the rightmost side of the screen, as you can see above.
Your goal with the Reforge system is twofold. First, get Perfection to 100 to maximize the set Advanced Attributes. Then, finish up by rerolling the third one until it’s one that better fits your class and spec.
This process can be fairly random, but there’s no risk of failure or anything like that. It’s just going to require a lot of Reforge Stones! You can get them from the following sources:
- Chaotic Realm
- Gear Exchange
- Honor Coin Store
- Mystery Store
- Trading Center
- Unstable Space
Don’t be afraid to use the stones either. You can ask Maxim to dismantle unwanted equipment for you, which refunds a decent amount of Reforge Stones.
Gear Slot Refinement

Last but not least, you’ll also want to make use of gear slot Refinement. This can also be done by talking to Maxim at the Artisan Guild in Asterleeds. The feature unlocks at Adventurer Level 28 and Server Day 3.

This system allows you to upgrade your gear slots by using Starforge Crystals and Unbound Luno, as well as other materials such as metals. You mainly get the materials through the following sources:
- Elite Boss Chests
- Honor Coin Store
- Mystery Store
- Smelting Life Skill
- Trading Center
- Unstable Space
- World Boss Chests

Something worth noting here is that there’s a Success Chance for every Refinement! This is shown just above the Refine button, as shown above.
This chance starts at 100%, but it gradually goes down as you get to higher levels of refinement. Failing the refinement will consume the materials but not upgrade you at all. Essentially, the higher your level is, the riskier the process is!

To increase your chances, you can also add extra Blessing Materials. These increase the chances of success, even allowing you to get a 100% guaranteed chance in some cases. We highly recommend doing this to avoid wasting materials.
Now, as we mentioned before, this upgrades your gear slots. That means, it’s not your gear itself that gets upgraded. These are permanent character upgrades that aren’t lost if you change your equipment. So, make sure to Refine whenever possible!
