The new MMORPG Blue Protocol: Star Resonance has some tough battles. The Kanamia Trial on hard can be just that if you don’t know what mechanics to look for. If you are having trouble defeating Maximo the Warrior, follow this quick guide to learn each move and how to survive each long enough to reap your rewards.

The Beginning of Battle

Like in every battle, it’s extremely important to look at the timer next to the boss. The timer next to the boss’s health bar will let you know what attack they are about to perform. There is a countdown of when it will occur. So keep that in mind as you go into the fight.

When the battle starts, there is a free DPS window up until Maximo the Warrior starts his first mechanic, the Soul Split. Soul split will target your team and cause them to be marked. You can tell if you have been marked by checking with your buffs at the bottom of the screen. When the debuff timer runs out, it will cause you to drop a soul.

Further in the fight, Maximo will cast Soul Annihilation and will target a specific player with a cleave attack. A text box appears on your screen saying, “Keep your distance from Allies and their souls!” This means you need to draw the attack away from your teammates AND any of the souls that have been dropped.

If you don’t want to worry about the souls part, make sure your team drops their souls at the very far edges of the arena. The attack won’t be able to extend that far.

The Big Mechanic

The next phase will be the boss’s major mechanic that you can identify when he raises his axe, and it emits a blue light. The souls that were dropped previously have actually become AOE puddles.

These puddles drag players into them, and if you do get drug, you die immediately. So you have to fight against the drag by moving, running, dashing, etc., in the opposite direction to them. This isn’t too hard of a mechanic to fight; it’s the fact that you die instantly if you so happen to fall victim to these pits.

The Next Phase

Maximo will now spawn three spears around the arena that you are your team have to destroy. After destroying all three, he will jump back to the middle of the area for a second cleave attack. Take notice that the area that was cleaved previously is still burnt on the ground. Be careful not to step on these areas.

However, on this second attack, you will want to position yourself beside the first. This allows for more playable area on the map. If you split the attack (meaning one cleave attack on one side and the second on the other), it will be much harder to maneuver around the map and avoid the burned marks.

The Cycle

Good news: Maximo the Warrior will just repeat those mechanics. It’s a cycle, and you will resolve each phase in the same ways. The fight isn’t too hard once you learn the mechanics of it.

With Maximo defeated, the Kanamia Trial is complete, and the rewards are yours to enjoy.
