You can go fish as one of the optional activities in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.

Despite what you might first assume, fishing in this game is not one of the Life Skills. It is instead just an optional activity. That also means that unlocking it works a bit differently, however, and it also has unique mechanics tied to it!

In this quick guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to get started with fishing in this game.

You can unlock the ability to fish after the “Fireworks Fantasy Night” main story quest. At that point, you’ll receive the “Invitation From the Fishing Guild” side quest.

Start this short tutorial quest by talking to the Fishing Guild Member. You can find them at the Central District of Asterleeds, shown above.

Aside from introducing the basics of the guild, they’ll also give you a Regular Fishing Pole and 5 Beginner’s Bait. Nothing too crazy, but it’s some decent starting gear!

Tutorial Fishing Spot location | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

After the conversation, you’ll need to go to the Fishing Spot at Yacht Harbor. This is in the eastern part of Asterleeds. It’s the spot shown on the map above, marked with a fish icon.

Once you get there, you should see a glowing spot overlooking the sea. Interact with it to start the fishing minigame proper. The game will also give you instructions on how to play the minigame, so make sure to pay attention to the tutorials.

Explaining the Fishing Minigmae

Fishing minigame interface | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

When it comes to fishing, you need to first select your rod and bait. You can find both of these at the bottom of the screen. Then cast by left-clicking or tapping on the screen and wait for a fish to bite.

Exclamation mark as a fish bites | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

You can tell a fish took the bait when the bobber goes underwater and you see a big exclamation mark (!), as shown above. Left-click or tap the screen once this happens!

Fishing Tension | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

Next, you will need to move your rod left and right (A and D keys) while clicking to reel in the fish. Your goal here is to manage your Tension, keep it from reaching 100% to avoid losing the fish.

To reduce Tension, move your rod in the direction of the fish and stop reeling. To catch the fish, you’ll need to move the rod in the direction opposite to the fish and start reeling. You’ll need to balance both of these actions here to both reel in the fish and maintain a low Tension!

Fishing Tension and Progress gauge | Blue Protocol: Star Resonance

You can track how close you are to catching the fish by looking at the bar right below the Tension %. Get the fish all the way to the fisherman icon on the left to catch it.

For the purpose of the tutorial quest here, you’ll need to successfully catch an Astercad at the Yacht Harbor. Once you manage to do so, return to the Fishing Guild Member from before. She’ll give you some rewards, including more Bait!

From now on, you’re free to start fishing at any Fishing Spot in the game. Remember, those are all marked by fish-shaped icons.

That’s all you need to know to fish in Blue Protocol: Star Resonance! All that’s left is for you to go out there and start enjoying some relaxing fishing time.
