Harlowe the Gravitar is one of the 4 Vault Hunters you can play in Borderlands 4, and we’ve got a nice leveling build for her. This build focuses on making the most of her extremely powerful Neutron Capture Augment. It gives her a substantial damage buff that is fairly easy to keep up at nearly all times! With it, you should have no trouble reaching the endgame with Harlow. Read on for all the details!

BEST Harlowe Leveling Build (1-50) | Borderlands 4

For this leveling build, we will focus on the Creative Bursts Skill Tree. That means you’ll be using the CHROMA Accelerator Action Skill. We recommend getting used to this Action Skill, particularly the fact that reusing it after firing allows you to manually detonate it to deal a high burst of Radiation damage.

With that out of the way, you’ll want to spend your first 5 points to max out the Field-Ready Prototype passive. It buffs your Action Skill’s damage, which will be extremely important in just a moment.

After that, you want to pick up Neutron Capture. This is the core of the build, as it’s your main damage source! What this does is make it so that your gun deals 4% of the damage your Action Skill dealt on the last use for 8 seconds. That means, using CHROMA Accelerator to deal 40,000 damage will make your gun deal an additional 1600 damage per shot.

Most importantly, this extra damage has no cooldown and triggers on every single shot. As such, you’ll want to use weapons with a high fire rate, such as SMGs. It might not seem like much on paper, but the damage gets extremely ridiculous really fast with higher fire rates! Maliwan SMGs are particularly strong, as their elemental effects work great with this build.

Additionally, the bonus damage also counts as Skill damage. So, it can be buffed further beyond being just 4% of your Action Skill’s damage. With that in mind, the rest of this build will focus on raising Fire Rate, Action Skill Damage, and Skill Damage.

Other Perks to Get | Early to Mid-Game

With the very basics of the build laid down, we will now go over the remaining Passives and Augments you want to get and in what order:

  • Elementary x5 (Creative Bursts) – Increases all elemental damage, including your Action Skill’s damage.
  • Test Subjects x5 (Creative Bursts) – Increases your Action Skill Cooldown Rate when you apply status effects, which will be quite often.
  • Poisoned Sun x5 (Creative Bursts) – Increases Radiation Damage and Irradiation Chance.
  • Chain Reactor x3 (Creative Bursts) – Deal bonus Radiation Damage to Entangled enemies.
  • Fissile Launcher x3 (Creative Bursts) – Shoots a Radiation Dart at nearby enemies whenever you damage Irradiated or Entangled enemies. The dart does flat damage, which counts as Skill damage.
  • Demon Core (Creative Bursts) – Makes your Action Skill fire Radiation Darts while traveling. Also automatically Irradiates Entagled enemies while the Action Skill is active. This mainly feeds back to Neutron Capture’s damage bonus.
  • Dirty Bomb (Creative Bursts) – Irradiating an enemy will cause a Radiation Explosion, dealing AoE damage.

Other Perks to Get | Late to End-Game

  • Make Extraordinary x5 (Seize the Day) – Gives you a chance to deal Critical Hits with Skills, with the chance increasing as you Entangle enemies. This also means Neutron Capture’s bonus damage can become Critical!
  • Carry the One x5 (Creative Bursts) – Gives a random chance to Entangle another nearby enemy whenever you Entangle an enemy.
  • Break the Ice (Creative Bursts) – Turns the CHROMA Accelerator and Neutron Capture damage into Cryo instead of Radiation. Ideal for leveling builds as it’s stronger against Armored enemies.
  • Bright Future x5 (Seize the Day) – Increases your Fire Rate after triggering or retriggering an Action Skill.
  • Ripple Effect (Seize the Day) – Automatically Entangle another enemy whenever you kill an Entagled enemy.
  • Mechanical Brilliance x5 (Creative Bursts) – Gives you increased Skill Damage whenever you damage an enemy with a Skill.

With that, this levelling build for Harlowe in Borderlands 4 is done! You should have no trouble clearing the game by combining these perks with weapons with a high fire rate. Your damage will be frankly disgusting.

Does this build not sound like a fun one to you? Well, we also have leveling builds for other characters! For example, check out our Vex levelling build. Maybe it’s more your style?
