45 articlesThe Soul Survivor is a Pearlescent Pistol made by Daedalus. It was added to Borderlands 4 as part of Story Pack 1, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. If you are not familiar with the DLC, it dropped on March 27, 2026. It takes place across a brand new region called the Whispering Glacier. And brings a new Vault Hunter, new bosses, and a handful of new Pearlescent weapons with it, the Soul Survivor being one of them.
To get your hands on it, you need to own the Story Pack 1 DLC. It is a dedicated drop tied to that content. It only comes from one specific source inside the Whispering Glacier. So there is no point running around hoping it would naturally drop. In this guide, I will cover exactly where to farm it so you won’t need to wander around aimlessly searching for it.
How to get the Soul Survivor (Pearlescent Pistol)
To get the Soul Survivor, you need to progress through The Whispering Glacier until you reach the Windswept Wastes. This is one of the later regions in the DLC, so you will need to push through the story a bit before it opens up.
Once you are there, look for the Crisis Scar Weeping DAHL Bunker. Inside the bunker, you will find The Penitent Steel boss. This is the boss that randomly drops the Soul Survivor, and it is currently the only source for it in the entire DLC. Defeat it, and the gun has a chance to drop. I have marked the exact location of the bunker and the boss in the image below.

Use the nearby Moxxi Encore Machine to start the boss fight before dropping in.
Final Thoughts
The Penitent Steel is not the hardest boss in the DLC, but the Soul Survivor is not a guaranteed drop. So be ready to run it a few times before the gun drops. With that said, the Soul Survivor has decent stats but its main effect is more of a hit and miss. It relies on having allies in Fight For Your Life to stack its Adrenaline damage bonus. Which means it performs a lot better in co-op than it does when you are playing solo.
