This one is a deep cut even by Call of Duty standards. Black Ops 7 Zombies pays tribute to the original Ray Gun Easter egg from the World at War campaign mission Little Resistance in its new Kowakujō map. Standing in a set of puddles in the right order back then caused statues to rise out of the ground holding a free Ray Gun, and Treyarch has recreated that exact moment inside Kowakujō.

This time around it is wrapped in a small obstacle course with lava hazards thrown in, fitting the volcanic setting of the map. Pull it off correctly and a free Ray Gun becomes available without spending a single point of Salvage. In this guide, I will walk you through exactly where to go and how to trigger it.

How to Get The World At War Ray Gun Easter Egg

After powering on the Pack-a-Punch in Kowakujō, make your way to the Training Area near the lava. Once you are there you will need to wait for a floating rock to appear out in the lava itself. This part is purely luck based, so you might end up waiting a fair while or it could show up almost immediately.

Once the rock appears, jump onto it and stay put. It will start floating you towards the start of the obstacle course. Zombies will likely follow you onto the lava as you travel, so make sure to shoot them off before they reach you. Just be careful not to accidentally shoot the rock you are standing on in the process.

Obstacle Course

The rock will eventually carry you to the roof of a broken house that is half submerged in the lava. Jump onto the roof and this will trigger the start of the obstacle course itself.

You will see an “Objective Update” notification appear under your minimap, and a timer will begin counting down at the same time. From here, rocks will rise up out of the lava one after another, and you need to cross them to make your way through the course.

There are checkpoints scattered throughout the obstacle course, and reaching one extends your timer so you are not racing against the clock the entire way through. If you fall into the lava at any point, you get sent back to your most recent checkpoint rather than all the way to the start.

Take it slow and steady rather than rushing, since some of the jumps can take a few attempts to nail down properly. Using your wall run ability can also help you cover some of the trickier gaps along the way.

Once you reach the end of the course, you will hear a completion sound confirming you made it. At that point four statues will rise up out of the ground, and one of them will be holding the free Ray Gun for you to pick up.

Here’s a short walkthrough of the obstacle course to complete this Easter Egg and get the free Ray Gun.

That’s It

Pulling off this Easter egg is well worth the attempt, especially if you load into a match low on Salvage early on or just want a head start before things get hectic later in the round. The obstacle course itself is not punishing thanks to the checkpoint system, so do not be discouraged if you fall into the lava a few times while learning the jumps. A free Ray Gun this early can completely change how your run goes.
