Arknights: Endfield, the action RPG to Arknights, is finally out and it’s time to talk about it on our beginner’s guide.

The game can seem daunting and confusing at first, as most gacha games tend to be. However, I’ll make sure to tell you some key tips that should keep you from making rookie mistakes.

Ready to dive in? Let’s get into the thick of it!

Focus on the Main Story

A fairly advanced AIC | Arknights: Endfield

My first tip is a simple one, but always an important one. As a beginner, you should first focus primarily on playing through the game’s story. Even if you’re the kind of player who doesn’t care about story, you should still do so!

There are two main reasons for this. First, you’ll get tutorials that will explain all of the game’s systems in detail. And second, you’ll unlock a lot of gameplay features and systems in the process.

You’ll even get some currency you can use for Headhunting, which is the game’s character gacha system! So, it’s also a good way to get your first few characters to start forming a team, too.

This will also introduce you to the Automated Industry Complex (AIC). This is both your base and a factory, which you use to gather and collect resources. It’s one of the game’s most unique features, as far as gachas go!

If you want more details on this part, check out our day 1 guide and checklist. It gives you more pointers on what to do on your first day, with the goal being to reach Authority Level 15 quickly. That’s your account level, which is important for unlocking features and more of the story.

Operator Basics

Chen Qianyu Operator overview | Arknights: Endfield

In Endfield, your characters (known as Operators) have two main things you should pay attention to when making teams. One is their Classes, and the other is their Arts type.

For Classes, there are 6 of them, but they can be categorized into two categories as follows:

  • DPS (Guard, Caster, Striker) – The damage dealers. Each class has a different style, such as Guards being more Physical-oriented, while Casters are more focused on Arts and element types. Strikers mostly focus on exploiting special effects.
  • Support (Vanguard, Defender, Supporter) – Vanguards restore your Skill Points, required for other characters to use skills. Defenders heal, and Supporters apply buffs and debuffs.

That aside, there are the elements, or Arts. Each character has one type of Arts they focus on. Dealing this type of elemental damage can inflict a variety of status effects, which can then be detonated or consumed by either the same type of Art or another one.

There is a lot to this system, so we recommend paying attention to the in-game tutorial and experimenting with it!

But, as a rule of thumb, I highly recommend having at least 1 Support on your teams. Also, look for characters that synergize well together, such as ones that share the same Arts types.

Lastly, all Operators have 4 Attributes, as follows:

  • Strength – Influences their max HP.
  • Agility – Influences their Physical Resistance.
  • Intellect Influences their Arts Resistance.
  • Will – Influences how much treatment (healing) the Operator receives.

Uniquely here, any of these 4 can affect the Operator’s attack power. Each Operator has one attribute set as Primary and one set as Secondary.

Primary Attributes are the main source of attack power by far, while Secondary Attributes provide a much smaller amount of attack power. The rest only provide the effects I mentioned above, that’s it!

Don’t Spend Resources Carelessly

Ember despairs | Arknights Endfield

This is mostly a tip to those who aren’t gacha veterans, but it’s a good reminder for veterans as well.

Early into the game, you will get showered with resources to level up and strengthen your characters and gear. It might seem that you’re getting more than you can use, even!

Well, this is only in the early game. Later on, you will notice that you get way fewer resources than you need, and your progression greatly slows down.

To minimize this, you’ll want to pick which characters to focus on and ignore the rest. Do not try to level up all Operators equally, as you’ll just spread your resources thin and end up slowing down your progression.

Understandably, you’ll probably want to try out multiple characters. They are all so charming, after all! But, I highly recommend being stingy with upgrades and only focusing on the characters you’ll use primarily.

If you’re still indecisive on which characters to focus on, you can try just waiting to upgrade. Delay upgrading and spending resources until you hit roadblocks. That should give you more time to make your choice.

Save Your Rolls

Results of a 10-pull character gacha | Arknights Endfield

Speaking of saving resources, it’s a good idea not to roll on the Operator gacha unless you have to. This is particularly true for free-to-play players, although the game is fairly F2P-friendly.

The main reason for this is that you’re guaranteed to get the banner’s limited Operator on your 120th pull. This, however, does not carry over to the next banner!

As an example, let’s say you pull 60 times for Laevatain and stop. You would need 20 more pulls for the 50/50, but still 60 more for the guarantee shot at getting Laevatain.

Once Laevatain’s banner is replaced by Gilberta’s, you will still only need 20 more pulls to reach the 50/50 hard pity at 80 pulls. However, you’ll be back to 0 for the guarantee, requiring 120 more pulls to get Gilberta.

So, I highly advise against pulling on the limited Operator banner unless you have 120 pulls for the guarantee.

Similarly, for the weapon gacha, it’s ideal to wait until you can do 80 pulls. That will guarantee that you get the banner’s limited weapon! Your pulls toward pity are completely reset from one weapon banner to the next.

In short, save your pulls until you can hit the guarantee. That is, of course, if you want to minimize spending and get the most out of your limited pulls as an F2P player.

That’s the end of this beginner’s guide for Arknights: Endfield! I hope this helps you start out on this game, whether you’re a gacha veteran or a newbie.
