The Vaporizer is the new flying ARC unit added with the Flashpoint update in ARC Raiders. It is easily one of the nastiest enemies in the game right now. It shoots a tracking laser that melts your shield almost instantly and sweeps the ground with continuous fire. And on top of that, it has an energy shield that blocks grenades entirely. It only spawns during the Close Scrutiny map condition, where it patrols around Assessors making sure you have a bad time.

The good news is that once you understand how it works, it becomes a lot more manageable. It has clear weak points and a predictable shield window you can exploit. This guide covers the easiest method to take it down without burning through your entire loadout in the process.

Easiest Ways of Defeating an ARC Vaporizer

If you have been working on the High Gain Antenna Project then you already know how many Vaporizer Regulators you need to collect, and the only way to get them is by taking down ARC Vaporizers out in the field. After spending a good amount of time hunting them down I have found two methods that work really well, and I will walk you through both of them below.

Shoot & Cover Method

Trying to fight a Vaporizer out in the open is extremely dangerous and will likely get you killed very quickly. The best approach is to bait one by shooting it and then pulling back to an area with plenty of cover. From there it is a simple case of popping out, landing your shots and getting back behind cover after each shot. Rinse and repeat until it goes down. One thing you need to watch out for here is its laser attack as it deals AOE fire damage.

In terms of weak points, the Vaporizer has a pack of thrusters at each of its four corners and these are what you want to be targeting. Focus your fire on the two thrusters at the front of the machine. Once both of them are destroyed, the Vaporizer will lose the ability to stay airborne and will drop to the ground. Once it is grounded, you can easily finish it off.

Here’s a video showing the method I discussed above in play.

Wolfpack Method

If you throw a Wolfpack directly at a Vaporizer it will get blocked by the energy shield and go to waste. There is a way around this though. Throw a Seeker Grenade at it first to bait the shield out and force it to activate. The shield stays up for a few seconds and once it drops, the Vaporizer has a short cooldown before it can use it again. That is your window to attack. The moment the shield goes down, immediately throw your Wolfpack and it will take care of the Vaporizer.

This clip shows the Wolfpack method in action.

Summing Up

That covers the two most reliable ways to take down a Vaporizer in ARC Raiders. Both methods work well but the Wolfpack trick in particular can save you a lot of time and resources once you get the timing down. The Vaporizer is tough but once you know its patterns, it becomes easier to take down.
