If you’re finding The First Berserker: Khazan challenging, our tips and tricks are sure to help you get the upper hand.

Knowing how some key mechanics work and how to unlock certain features as soon as possible can really help smooth things out. The game doesn’t even directly tell you how to unlock a blacksmith, for example! That’s definitely something everyone should know!

Read on and we’ll give you our key tips and tricks to help you see Khazan’s vengeance through.

Tips & Tricks Everyone Should Know | The First Berserker: Khazan

Use the Brink Dodge and Brink Guard

This is going to require practice, but this is one of the most important tips and tricks to know about The First Berserker: Khazan. Dodging and Blocking attacks at the last second will result in a Brink Dodge or Brink Guard, respectively.

A successful Brink Dodge will temporarily boost your dodge attacks. A Brink Guard, on the other hand, greatly reduces the Stamina consumed to block and also damages your attacker’s Stamina.

It’s easier said than done, but mastering both of these defensive options will be key to victory in this game. Get the timing down and you’ll be able to easily counter enemies’ attacks! Some Skills you learn can make them even better, too.

Learn the Burst Counter Timing

Speaking of timing things, enemies will sometimes use Burst Attacks. These are signaled by a bloody D-shaped rune appearing over Khazan. You can’t block those attacks at all, but you can use your universal Counterattack skill to counter them and deal massive damage!

As for the timing, notice that there’s a white flash surrounding Khazan when you use the Counterattack skill. Time it so that Khazan is glowing white as the enemy hits him. If you do it right, you’ll take no damage at all and will unleash a devastating counter instead. This also restores your Stamina, letting you stay on the offensive.

Practice countering these Burst Attacks and you’ll have a much easier time progressing through the game.

Use Your Vengeance Points

Early in the game you will unlock the ability to use the Khazan’s Memories menu at every Blade Nexus. This menu will allow you to claim and use Vengeance Points, which you earn as you complete pretty much every mission in the game.

While in this same menu, you can also allocate your Vengeance Points to three different permanent buffs: Stamina DMG Increase, DMG Increase, and DMG Multiplier Increase.

Now, the buffs themselves are relatively minor. But, they are permanent and percentage-based. As such, they scale pretty well as you progress throughout the game and also work for every single build. So, don’t forget to spend your Vengeance Points to get these buffs and make Khazan even stronger!

How to Respec Skills and Stats

As you progress through the game, you’ll be able to learn various Skills and increase your Stats. Thankfully, your choices aren’t permanent and you can respec both of these later on!

For Skills, the respec system is a lot easier than stats. Within the Skills interface, you can hover over specific Skills you want to change and select “Delevel Skill.” Alternatively, you can select “Reset All” if you want to return to a blank slate. You can see the button prompts for both options at the bottom of the screen.

Either way, this will allow you to get a free refund for your Skills whenever you wish. So, if something’s not working out for you, refund it and learn a different Skill!

For stats, the process is similarly simple but it does require a rare consumable. Using any Primeval Regression Orb consumable will automatically reset Khazan to level 1 and give you a full refund of all Lacrima you’ve spent to level up.

If you’re still early in the game, you will get 1 Primeval Regression Orb once you clear the final trial during the “Trials of the Frozen Mountain” main mission. This is the second main mission in the game, so it’s quite early!

If you need more orbs, though, you’ll need to find certain NPCs and either purchase or craft the orbs. For more details, check out our guide on how to respec stats.

Rescue Qazumaka the Blacksmith

Early on you can recruit the help of Qazumaka the Blacksmith. This is completely optional, but his Dismantling and Crafting services can be vital for making the most of your loot. To have him work for you, complete the “Strange Stench” main quest and then meet with Qazumaka at The Crevice.

He’ll ask you to retrieve his hammer, opening up the “Blacksmith’s Heirloom” Bonus Mission. Complete that short side mission and bring the hammer back to Qazumaka to unlock his services!

Unlock Danjin’s Shop and Jarlings

Danjin at The Crevice | The First Berserker Khazan: Jar Enthusiasts Bonus Mission Guide | How to Unlock Jarlings

Another feature that’s important to unlock early in the game is the Jarlings. They are little jar-headed critters that you can find hidden in every level. Collecting more of them will give you access to better items at Danjin’s shop, which includes some unique items!

To unlock the Jarlings, you’ll first need to complete the “First Act of Revenge” main mission as part of the story. Then, talk to Daimuk at The Crevice and accept the “Jar Enthusiasts” Bonus Mission from him. Complete this mission to unlock Danjin’s shop at The Crevice and make Jarlings appear in every stage.

The mission itself requires you to find 6 Jarlings, however. If you need help with their locations, check out our “Jar Enthusiasts” mission guide.

Complete Training Challenges

Daphrona will move to The Crevice after you complete the “Forgotten Temple” main mission. Speak to her there and she’ll unlock the Daphrona’s Codex feature for you, which you can check in the menu whenever you wish.

Most importantly here is that you can complete Bonus Training Challenges. You can find them under specific enemies’ Codex entries. They all involve taking out enemies in specific ways, and can honestly be pretty absurd at times. But, completing them is a fantastic way to get crafting Recipes and Materials!

Check the codex sporadically and try to complete as many of these Bonus Training Challenges as possible. They’ll help you get the upper hand over your foes.

Keep Agility in Mind

Last but not least on our list of tips and tricks for The First Berserker: Khazan is a reminder to keep your Agility stat in mind.

You can find your Agility below your Weight in your stat sheet. It ranges from A at the best to C at the worst. Higher Agility means you consume less Stamina when dodging and your Stamina also restores faster. Conversely, low Agility means you use more Stamina and it takes longer to restore.

If you find yourself constantly running out of Stamina, try wearing lighter gear. Alternatively, increase your maximum Weight by leveling up Strength or Vitality. Just note that Strength provides a better boost and also works best if you use weapons that scale with it, like Greatswords.

That’s the end of our tips and tricks for The First Berserker: Khazan. We hope these help you have an easier time dealing with this challenging game!
