With Tekken 8 set to release on January 26th, 2024, players are eager to get a head start and find out what’s new to the game. That said, questions were raised on how different the game will be from its predecessor, Tekken 7.
To the relief of many, Bandai Namco Entertainment soon announced that there won’t be many significant changes to the game itself. Rather, a few smaller ones to improve the overall experience.
One such change is the Heat System. We covered this in another article, you can read more about it here.
Along with this, there are bound to be some changes in how certain characters behave. Some may improve, while others show potential to be ever so slightly more difficult to play with.
That said, in today’s article, we’ll give you a guide on how to pick Your main character and analyze which is best!
Character Style
One of the crucial aspects for players, when choosing a main character, is how that particular character looks on your screen. Does he/she look good? Are his/her moves pleasant to watch? And just the overall appearance of the specific character in the game.
Looking good while fighting has always been important. Even more so, now that Bandai Namco Entertainment has gone above and beyond to make the game look as beautiful as it has ever been.
This is just one aspect for you to consider, so feel free to play around with different characters to see which one is the most attractive to you.
Do remember that not all character trailers have been released as of yet. There are still a few weeks to go to January 26th meaning there will be 2-3 new trailers released before the release date.
Affinity
While this may seem a bit odd, affinity is something that every player who plays or has played Tekken at some point in his/her life has experienced. In the simplest of terms, it is how you click with the character you play.
With some characters, you can connect easily and have a special bond while playing, making you more effective in combat and an overall tougher opponent to deal with.
Character Strength
Before we even start with this aspect, please remember, that character strength is only a crucial factor for you if you aim to climb the ranks or play tournaments, play Tekken 8 competitively that is. Otherwise, this may not be as important to you as for others.
In any case, each character in Tekken can be deadly if played right. However, some characters deal more damage, while others deal significantly lower amounts of damage. In the same way, some are more complex, while others are easier to play.
This goes to show that sometimes you need to make a trade-off between what you like and what is effective in combat
Fun
As is the case with all games, fun is the most important factor to consider. After all, it is why we play games in the end.
It is no secret that some characters in Tekken are more fun to play than others. You can always take Jin and spam his jabs, but for some, this is no fun. Find a playstyle that you like and choose a character accordingly.
In the end, it can be said that there is no “best character” in Tekken to choose. Each character is unique and they all have a special playstyle. Find your ideal match and see if it works for you. Have fun exploring!
