Rune Dice might be a game where luck plays a major role, but there are quite a few things you can do to win more of your runs without relying on pure luck.

Some players ignore mechanics that are extremely powerful, just because they might seem a bit unassuming. At the same time, knowing which die to focus on when merging or upgrading can also massively edge odds in your favor.

In this guide, I’ll give you various tips and tricks to help you win more often!

Plan Your Route Properly

One of the most important things you can do at the start of every run is to just assess what’s ahead of you. Look at the nodes you can select and how they lead to each other, then plan a route.

This is something that takes some time to really master, as you learn the ins and outs of what each node can do. But there are some simple things you can keep in mind to help you out instantly.

For example, avoid going for Miniboss and Tough Battle nodes too early. Chances are that you won’t have enough power to win, leading to an early loss.

Mind you, Miniboss and Tough Battle nodes are definitely worth the risk. So, do aim for them once you are comfortable with your build. I’m just saying to ignore them early.

Also, make sure to go for routes that have Shops in them, but avoid early Shops. Generally speaking, you won’t have a lot of Coins early, so visiting a Shop too early is a bit of a waste.

That said, your characters will level up from one run to the next, as well. Some of their unlocks can make going for these nodes early more enticing. But when you’re new to the game, try sticking to regular nodes.

As a last tip of routing, I also highly recommend going down a route that leads to a Jester node. The Jester can give you a massive amount of rewards, which I’ll talk about more later on.

Get As Many Coin Die As Possible

As you go through battles in Rune Dice, you’ll often see Coin Die. They look like the one in the example above. It’s a regular dice, but with Coins on it!

Making successful merges with Coin Die will give you the die’s value in Coins. You can then use these Coins in Shops to get more die, Runes, or even powerful Relics that give passive effects.

Alternatively, you can also spend Coins during reward selections to reroll the rewards. This can help you get what you need more easily.

Though, on the topic of reward selections, note that you can also choose to skip reward selections for extra Coins. If you really have nothing worthwhile to choose from, go for the skip.

Anyway, your character will generally not perform attacks when merging Coin Die. This can make them seem undesirable at times, but you have to think about the long game. More Coins will mean more power down the line!

The Bomb Dice is the Bomb!

Speaking of powerful dice, the Bomb Dice is one of the most powerful die types you can get. It’s also available to all classes, as far as I know, making it decently common to find.

When you merge the Bomb Dice, it will create a small explosion around itself. This explosion can end up moving other nearby die, which can create a chain reaction of merges! Things can get quite hectic with a few Bomb Die in the board.

As if that weren’t enough, the Bomb Die will also deal damage to every single enemy at once. Since most encounters in this game have you fighting groups of enemies, this is a real game-changer!

The one notable downside to the Bomb Die is that it can make merging Enemy Die easier. After all, it might just happen accidentally due to the explosions moving the die around.

Nonetheless, the ability to create a chain reaction of merges and damage all enemies at once is absolutely invaluable. Do not pass this dice up if you see it available.

Don’t Ignore Runes

A lot of new players tend to ignore Runes, which is somewhat amusing considering the game’s name is Rune Dice. But it’s easy to underestimate them, as they are consumable items and you have limited slots.

When it comes to Runes, I highly recommend always picking up at least the Gravity Rune and Treasure Rune. They are some of the most powerful items in the game, even if they are single-use.

The Gravity Rune, for example, will allow you to vacuum all of the die to a spot of your choosing together. This can cause merges if the die are of identical values, and it doesn’t even use up your turn.

Similarly, the Treasure Rune can be used to spawn a set of 3 Coin Die. All of them always have a value of 1, so they can be spawned on top of other 1 die for instant merges. This also doesn’t use up your turn!

As you might imagine, the ability to just get free merges without passing turns is absolutely invaluable. The two Runes I mentioned are just examples of Runes that might seem unassuming but end up being gamechangers.

In summary, make sure to look out for Runes during your run. Pay attention to what they do, and don’t pass them up just because they are consumables.

Making the Most of the Jester

Last but not least, the Jester! As I mentioned back during the routing tip, sometimes you’ll encounter a Jester node. Make absolutely sure to never pass these up, and try saving some Runes for them.

This is a unique node where you get a board full of unique reward die. Healing Die, Die Upgrade Die, Coin Die, Rune Die, Treasure Chest Die, etc. All of these can massively power you up for the rest of the run!

The catch? You only get a single throw of your Master Die. You have to try to get as many merges as possible within the one turn you’re given!

That said, you might have already realized the loophole here if you’ve been following along with this guide. Some Runes don’t use up your turn and will allow you to get free merges.

So, make sure to save Runes whenever you see a Jester up ahead, with Gravity Runes being one of the most potent. Using Runes for free merges at a Jester node can massively improve you run, it almost feels like cheating!

Wrapping Up

Ultimately, the best way to win more in Rune Dice is to make sure to utilize every tool the game gives you.

Look at the map at the start to plan a route ahead, make sure not to ignore the Runes, try to make the most out of Jester nodes, things like that. Try to get every advantage you can and you’ll find that you win runs more often than not!
