Best Tips and Tricks For Beginners
Don’t Stop Moving
The vast majority of enemies in Roboquest will aim directly at you, without trying to predict where you will move. This makes movement your best defensive tool by far!

Additionally, try to be somewhat careful with your movement.
As we said, enemies will fire at your current position, so moving will avoid their shots. But also remember to wait a while before you move back to where you were previously, or you’ll get hit anyway!
This is especially important in the challenging circular arena rooms which task you with defeating hordes of enemies. In those, you should run laps around the edge of the room as you rain lead on your enemies.
Ultimately, movement is your best and most reliable defensive tool in Roboquest, so get used to not staying put.
Prioritize Your Targets
The enemies you face in Roboquest are all varying degrees of pain on your robo-butt, so you’ll need to learn which ones to take out first if you wish to succeed.
Some enemies, for example, generate shields for their allies. Others will spawn suicide drones that deal heavy damage by exploding in your face. Some others will even apply status effects on you!
On the other hand, others won’t even bother attacking you unless you get close enough to them.
It’s something you have to learn and figure out on the fly, but make sure to prioritize the most annoying enemies first. Take out the more oppressive foes first and you’ll turn the tide of battle in your favor!
Also, it’s a good idea to try to take out Workers when possible. These enemies appear every now and then, riding along a rail. Most of them don’t attack you, but they do disappear after a short while.
The main benefit to hunting down Workers is that they reward you with lots of HP and also drop a large amount of Health Orbs. Remember, you can heal yourself by picking up Health Orbs!
Sure, it’s going to take some time to learn which enemies to focus on, but it’ll become second nature to you soon enough.
Hunt Down the Data Logs
There are dozens, if not hundreds, of Data Logs hidden all over the various regions you visit in Roboquest.
Data Logs appear as floating rectangular devices, usually highlighted with an orange glow. They provide some lore and backstory information about Roboquest’s world but also earn you unlocks.
Thanks to procedural generation, you’re not always guaranteed to find them, though.
Nonetheless, you should make sure to thoroughly explore the various regions to find the Data Logs. Collecting enough of them will reward you with unlocks, which are going to make your life a lot easier!

Keep An Eye On The Minimap
Roboquest has an extremely useful minimap, as it tells you a lot about your surroundings at a quick glance.
For one, areas are color-coded. Green signals a rest area, purple lets you know about optional challenges that reward you with loot, and orange is used to mark event areas.
Additionally, all enemies are marked on your minimap as well. Even ones that are hiding below the ground waiting for you to get close. Workers even have their own unique icons, too.
Lastly, every single weapon in the game will also appear in the minimap. They all have unique icons, and the icon’s color also lets you know the weapon’s rarity at a glance!
The weapon icons are particularly useful so you don’t miss out on any weapons that you like. After all, we all excel with different weapons, considering how distinct they all are in this game!
Anyway, just make sure to keep an eye on the minimap so that you don’t miss out on anything important.
Remember This Is A Roguelite
Roboquest is, first and foremost, a roguelite. You’ll lose often before you manage to get a winning run, but each loss will help you work toward a win.
You’ll be able to obtain a variety of permanent upgrades by using Wrenches. Wrenches are randomly dropped by enemies, with bosses and elite enemies dropping large amounts of them.
On top of that, you can find Power Crystals that unlock game-changing upgrades. They primarily make the latter stages of the game fairer.
Lastly, there are Gadgets that give you extra abilities. You can unlock them by completing certain challenges or exploring the various regions.
Gadgets include things like a Jetpack and a Grappling Hook, which makes them absolute game-changers! They’ll give you more options to play, and make your quest to kill the bad robots much easier.
Of course, that’s not to mention that you’ll also be unlocking additional classes, such as the secret Elementalist class.
Every class brings a different playstyle, so you should try them all out to see which one fits you best.
All in all, don’t let losses ruin your mood. Remember you’re always making progress, both by getting better at the game and by unlocking new upgrades!
