Dead Island 2 allows you to survive a zombie apocalypse taking place in California using a variety of unique characters and weapons.

Of course, a zombie apocalypse is always a rough time, as you might imagine! The game is sure to have some challenges for players going in completely blind.

If you want to have a good idea of what you’re getting into, read on! We have a lot of tips to help you become a true zombie-killing machine.

Learn the Flow of Combat

Combat in this game is fast-paced but with a certain cadence to it.

Enemies will telegraph their attacks somewhat obviously, which will be your key to timing your dodges and blocks to prevent damage.

Timing your dodges well will even stun your enemies and give you a good opportunity to counterattack!

Pacing yourself is also important for managing your stamina. You don’t want to tire yourself out in combat as it will almost guarantee to lead to death.

In short, don’t go in swinging wildly. Try to pace yourself so that you can see what attacks your enemies are doing, giving you an opportunity to react and counterattack.

Explore Thoroughly

Zombies and other threats will be hiding all over the place. You’ll never know where they’ll come from, so you should be careful and thorough when exploring new locations.

You should also keep an eye out for any resources such as weapons and crafting materials! These will be key to your continued survival in this game.

Also, make sure to note environmental hazards such as gas tanks so that you can use them against enemies.

Improve Your Character

Each one of the playable characters has a different skill set, with talents that you can learn as you level up.

Enemies, both alive and undead, also have different levels. If an enemy is of a higher level than you, you will have to fight an uphill battle to take them down.

If you’re having trouble, try leveling up your character and learning skills! The best way to get experience for leveling is by completing quests, so don’t ignore them.

Try to Avoid Noise

Zombies and other enemies are attracted to noise. Overusing loud weapons, such as guns, is a good way to get yourself swarmed and killed. Instead, we recommend using your melee weapons whenever you can.

A baseball bat to the head generates way less noise than a shotgun blast, that’s for sure!

Save the guns for when you’re facing large hordes already or when you’re dealing with special mutated zombies or human enemies.

Make Good Use of Crafting

Our last tip is to make sure you stay on top of crafting. This includes checking every nook and cranny for materials, too!

Crafting will allow you to make a variety of helpful things, such as healing kits, ammo, and even weapons.

You can even modify your weapons to give them powerful unique effects, giving you a huge advantage against every enemy in the game!

Venezuelan gamer cursed by being interested by most games, resulting in a ridiculous backlog he’ll never be able to conquer. Been gaming for over two decades now! Few things exemplify his wide variety in gaming tastes as the fact that he’s a big fan of both Souls games and the Atelier series at the same time. Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
