If you’ve enjoyed the early access experience of Death Must Die, then you’ll be excited to hear this announcement – an official roadmap plotting out future updates!

This was dropped by the developers of the game in which they details new items, classes and potential characters to be dropped in the new year.

Update Roadmap Revealed (December – 2024)

This article is going to break down the new content that’s been announced in this update from the developers and give some thoughts on the game’s future.

These are set to be released in the first quarter of 2024 – so stay tuned!

Holiday Surprise

Enemies with Santa hats Death Must Die

This should’ve already dropped in the game! It was updated that on December 20th, a new skin would become available giving the skeletons a bit of festive cheer!

This is a neat trick from the developers that I’m sure fans are going to love. It shows the developers want to grow their relationship with the growing community for the game.

A New Location

New realm in Death Must Die

There’s no timeline on when this might drop, so we suspect to see this over the next few weeks.

They’ve announced a new location in Death’s Realm will be unlocked. The new location: The Endless Desert, appears to be a sand covered wasteland. So, far players have yet to encounter Death in the game and perhaps this will bring us one step closer!

The game is currently in Early Access meaning not all locations are available yet, its great to see them slowly releasing more.

A New God

New god in the update

Whilst it hasn’t been revealed what this god might be, players know this means new skills and blessings will become available.

In Death Must Die, various Gods will appear and offer you blessings for your abilities. The arrival of a new God will be welcomed by fans since it signals new gameplay mechanics to experiment with!

A New Character

Ranger class in the update

Fans of the game have been very quick to request a ranger character – and the developers have listened!

There are currently no playable characters with ranged combat since all the characters make use of various melee skills such as swords and magic.

A ranger class is something fans have wanted since the game’s release and will be sure to bring whole new approaches to gameplay.

Tier II Items

Tier II items in Death Must Die

As items only range within the first tier, this can make the combination of inventory feel somewhat limited.

This update brings new items with new abilities, allowing for enhanced gameplay. The best part of Death Must Die is finding a new item and incorporating it into your playstyle.

This will greatly expand players choices in the game and allow for a more customisable experience.

New Enemies & Map Objects

New enemies and map objects in the game

The new enemies look great and we expect we’ll see them in the new Desert world.

They appear to be sword-wielding genies. These could be faster enemies with a wide-ranging sweep attack and by floating they could introduce new traversal mechanics for them.

New map objects are an interesting one. There’s no way to be certain what this entails for gameplay, but it could include new methods for upgrading weapons, abilities, or even traversing through the map.

More character finetuning is always exciting.

New Features Brought Forward

Gameplay from Death Must Die

The developers have hinted that the following features will be coming sooner than expected!

It’s important to note that these are not definite, but it is promising to see developers this engaged with bringing out new content! They include:

  • Duo God blessings
  • Character talent Trees
  • More characters
  • New Blessings for Existing Gods
  • Set Items
  • Act III
  • Shop Reroll
  • Item Loadouts
  • Quality of Life Improvements
  • Localisations

That’s it for the update! Fans have a lot to look forward to regarding this game in the new year. There’s still no definite timeline, so you’ll want to keep your eyes peeled for dates over the next few weeks.
