Crab Champions is a fast-paced shooter roguelike where responsiveness is key. As such, it’s extremely annoying when you get lag and performance hiccups.

In this guide, we’ll go over various tips and tricks you can use to help improve the game’s performance!

How to Improve Performance in Crab Champions

The first thing you will want to do is to make sure that your PC meets the minimum specs for the game. These are as follows:

  • OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit
  • Processor: Core i3 3.3 GHz
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel HD 4000
  • Storage: 6 GB available space
  • Sound Card: Any

To check your current specs, type “About your PC” into the Windows Search bar. Click on the best match and a new window will open, showing you most of your specs.

Do take note that this won’t show you which graphics card you have.

To see your graphics card, also known as a GPU, search for “View advanced display info” instead. Click on the best match to open a new window.

Under “Display information”, look for a description that says “Connected to”. That’s the name of your active GPU.

If your specs are on par with the recommended ones, try updating your display drivers next. You will have to check your manufacturer’s official support site for this.

Every manufacturer also provides tools that autodetect and install the best drivers for you. These are the official sites:

After updating your drivers, try the game again. If the performance is still less than desired, you should modify the in-game graphics settings.

Best Graphics Settings for Performance in Crab Champions

To access the graphics settings, press Escape on a keyboard or the Menu button on your controller. Then choose “Settings” from the pause menu.

Under video settings, change the following settings:

  • Resolution: Auto Detect
  • Resolution Quality: 50%
  • FPS Limit: 60
  • Graphics Quality: Low
  • Anti-Aliasing Type: Low
  • Sharpening: Off
  • Motion Blur: Off

These are the lowest possible settings, which might hurt visuals but provide good performance.

If your performance becomes satisfactory with these settings, you can try bumping up the settings slightly to get better visuals too. Resolution Quality is the first you will want to raise.

If even these settings can’t make the game perform well enough for you, you might have to wait for future updates.

Crab Champions is still an Early Access title. Since it’s still in ongoing development, its optimization might be lacking, making it underperform even on powerful PCs.

In these cases, there’s simply not much you can do to improve performance. Still, we hope this article helped you get the game to perform well enough for you!
