Descenders can be a tricky game to play on a keyboard. But a lot of people were forced to, as some players couldn’t get their controllers to work with the game.

Although the developers tried to address the issue, it seemed like the game itself wasn’t at fault, so there was little they could do.

However, there are a few methods that were able to fix the problem for some people.

Fixing the Controller Issue in Descenders

The solution that seems to work the most is running the game in the Big Picture Mode. You can do that by pressing the Big Picture Mode icon on the top right corner of the Steam client.

Now, press the small gear icon and open the “controller settings” tab. There, you can tell steam exactly which controller you’ll be using.

Next, return to the main menu. From there, you can choose the “library” option and select “Descenders”.

What if That Doesn’t Work?

Any time you have issues with your controller, you should check if the drivers are updated and whether your PC detects some weird plugins.

Also, keep in mind that most games build in Unity (the engine Descenders uses as well) have problems with detecting multiple controllers.

So, if you have more than one connected to your PC, you should detach it. Also, check if other controllers work with the game – there might be a problem with the one you’re using.

Lastly, remember that using unofficial/unlicensed controllers might cause problems as well.
