If you’re playing as a Thrall, you have a powerful advantage over your rivals: Bone Charm. However, learning how to use them effectively can take some time.
Being a Thrall is hard – you’ve made a pact with dark forces, you need to feed your crewmates to the Dreaded Hunger and you need to act like a regular sailor. Fortunately, you get access to one of the most devious tools in the game – Bone Charm.
Using Bone Charm in Dread Hunger
In order to use Bone Charm, also known as Bone Daggers, you need to press the “C” button in order to bring it up. You can use it as a melee weapon, but it does the same amount of damage bare fists would do.
Instead, its true power will be revealed once you’ll press and hold the right-click button, showing you a menu from which you can choose one of three spells.
Thrall Spells
Dragging the mouse over the spell you want to cast and release the right mouse button to cast it.
Each of the spells works differently.
Cannibal Attack will summon a group of cannibals that will attack the other player. After casting it, you need to choose the target by right-clicking on it.
But, once the cannibals are done with that target, they will attack anyone else in the vicinity – including you.
Whiteout is a spell that summons a snow storm, blinding every member of the crew. This can be useful when you want other players to lose sight of the path they’re walking.
Sadly, it’s not so useful for making them lose track of you, as the hindered visibility will have ab effect on you as well. But you have one more trick up your sleeve – the last spell, Spirit Walk, which allows you to disappear for 15-25 seconds, depending on the power of the spell.
Totems
In order to increase the power of your spells, you’ll need to build the bone totems. They weed and one bone to be crafted. Once you’ll place the first one, your space will begin to charge, powering up your spells. That charge time can be reduced by placing additional totems.
These are all the basic ways you can use the Bone Charm. Choosing when to cast which spell and how to avoid detection by other crewmates will be your job now. Good luck!
