Despite still being in early access and having just a portion of the content available right now, there are already many bosses both required and otherwise to take on in Path of Exile 2. In this guide, we will be going over Balbala, the Traitor, a boss you can encounter in the second act who can be pretty tough to beat if you come in unprepared and are unaware of their mechanics.

How to Defeat Balbala the Traitor

Balbala, the Traitor is a fairly straightforward fight, and you just need to dodge most of his telegraphed attacks like you normally would for any other boss. There are only a few mechanics that you need to watch out for, so let’s get to it.

First, whenever yellow circle runes start glowing on the ground, you need to touch them in order to make them disappear. If you leave them alone, you will have to deal with a lot of extra mobs. Watch out for his slam attack when you do this!

Now, for the one mechanic that seems to be wiping so many gamers. Whenever Balbala disappears and poison starts flooding the room, what you need to do is run around and look for him.

Balbala is invisible during this phase, but he will fade into view if you get close enough. Approach him and be ready to dodge as he will slam you. After forcing him out of invisibility, the poison should go away.

And that is really all there is to this fight. Aside from the constant barrage of daggers and other projectiles that you can just dodge sideways to avoid, you will need to act fast whenever runes appear on the ground or if a poison phase begins.

Franco is a writer and avid gamer who spends a lot of his free time looking for the next obscure indie roguelike to add to his collection. If he’s not busy working or writing on his personal blog, there’s also a non-zero chance that you stumble into him in pretty much any multiplayer game that has SEA or OCE servers. He’s pretty good at anything unless it’s a fighting game, in which case you’d probably body him.
