Complete Solo Player Guide for Pax Dei

Take on the game alone!

Published

on

Pax Dei can be a very difficult game to start off in, especially for solo players. The game revolves around mastering skills, gathering resources, and building, all being much easier to do when playing with a party.

With that said, how should you approach the game as a solo player?

Solo Player Guide

Playing the game solo will pretty much affect all aspects of gameplay in Pax Dei. While the game is harder solo, it is designed in a way that lets you properly play the game even when alone. Of course, your overall approach to how you play will need to be different.

Starting Location

Right after you create your character, you will need to choose a location to start your journey. Most of the areas here are pretty similar as they have the same biomes and resources available in different layouts. The thing you should be concerned with here is how many players are in each area of the map.

The population for each region when you are selecting the starting location

On the Select Start Location screen, the game will show you how many players are currently in a certain area within your server. When choosing where to spawn, make sure you pick the area with low players. Pax Dei is extremely resource-dependent, and choosing a location with a low number of players will mean fewer people fighting over scarce resources.

Base Building

Your base in Pax Dei acts as a HUB of sorts. It can host all your different workbenches and structures like furnaces or anvils. Before you can build your base, you must select an area for your Plot. You can only build structures and workbenches on top of your Plot.

Most survival games will require you to build a base with walls or fences around it. In Pax Dei this is not the case, as all that stuff isn’t that important. It will only take up valuable resources, which are already going to be low when playing solo. Prioritize important structures early on that will help your progress further.

Where you build your base is also very important. Try to find a location that is close enough to a lot of different biomes, as different biomes in this game have different resources. For more on the location of your base, check out our best base location in Pax Dei guide.

Professions

Professions in Pax Dei are the equivalent of skills. There are a total of 16 different professions in this game, and each of them represents a different set of skills. You can level up these Professions and improve your mastery of them.

Squads or clans will generally have an advantage over solo players here, as they have the luxury of assigning a few Professions to each player that they can then master. As a solo player, you realistically can’t master Professions as fast as a clan.

When playing solo, the best thing you can do is try to focus on a few Professions that are most relevant in the beginning. Professions like Woodcutting and Blacksmithing are going to be much more important than something like Alchemy. Eventually, you will be able to master more Professions. Make sure you check out our guide on the best early game Professions in Pax Dei.

Combat

Combat in Pax Dei will feel much harder when playing solo, as you won’t have teammates to back you up. Most of the enemies that you encounter in this game are going to come in groups. You will have very weak gear early on, making it extremely difficult to take on multiple enemies at once.

The best thing to do is isolate enemies. Always try to aggro one enemy onto you and constantly kite backward. Taking on one enemy at a time will make clearing a group of enemies much easier.

Other than that, you can also use stuff like magic to help you out. The game allows you to craft armor with magic abilities attached to it. You can check out our guide on how to get fire magic in Pax Dei to learn all about that. Magic will allow you to deal with enemies from a distance.

So there you have it, a complete guide on how to take on Pax Dei as a solo player. The game does get easier when you start leveling up your Professions and unlock more craftable items.
