A remake of the 2015 Ark Survival Evolved, Ark Survival Ascended manages to capture all that made the original a classic and adds more to it. 

Ark Survival Ascended has a lot of options for players when it comes to upgrades and equipment. The hunt for rare and unique materials makes the game fun to play and engaging. This also adds a degree of difficulty to the game.

Element is a very important late-game material in Ark Survival Ascended. For many players, it might be quite hard to get. In this guide we will look at the best way to get a lot of elements and how those elements can help you in your playthrough.

Best Way to Get Elements

Element in Ark Survival Ascended is dropped by the three bosses found on the game’s main island:

• Broodmother Lysrix
• Megapithecus
• Dragon

The amount they drop varies depending on the level of the boss you face. In Ark Survival Ascended, all bosses have 3 levels. These levels are Gamma, Beta, and Alpha, going from easiest to hardest. Gamma gives the least Element and Alpha the most.

The table above shows the elements you can get at each level of the three bosses. The Dragon on Alpha drops 440 elements. This is double the amount the Megapithecus drops at the same level.

For this guide, we will be specifically looking at how to beat the Dragon on Alpha as it is the most efficient way to get a lot of elements.

How to Beat the Dragon on Alpha

Preparation

Going into a difficult fight like this one, you need to be very well prepared. In terms of items, you should focus mainly on your stamina and heat resistance.

Healing is also very beneficial as the Dragon is a hard-hitting boss. Your armor also plays an important part in boosting your defenses. 

Otters in Ark Survival Ascended provide a big boost to heat resistance based on their attack stat. You can utilize an otter by using it as a shoulder mount. Having a good and high-level creature to mount on during the fight is also important.

For your weapons, you will need a good melee weapon with a good attack value and a rifle. The rifle damage doesn’t matter much as it will mainly be used to aggro the Dragon.

How to Approach the Fight?

Going into the fight you must start the fight by shooting the Dragon with a rifle to aggro it. Doing this will stop the Dragon from flying away and it will approach you. This might take some time and during this, you need to dodge fireballs the Dragon might send your way.

As soon as the dragon lands you need to go below it. Doing this will prevent the dragon from hitting you with its bite attack and it will get stuck in an animation trying to bite you. Once under the dragon, you need to keep attacking it and manage your stamina.

Upon reaching around half health, the Dragon will fly up and call upon a wave of Dimorphodons. You will need to deal with these small dinosaurs before engaging the Dragon again. Use a strong melee weapon and they will die very quickly.

After defeating the wave of Dimorphodons, you will do the same as before. Go under the Dragon and keep attacking while it’s stuck in its animation of biting you.

Attack the Dragon until it dies. Upon defeating the Dragon you can claim your element from the Dragon supply crate.

What Are Elements Used For?

Element is used to craft or upgrade Tek Tier armor, weapons, items, and buildings. Tek Tier is important for the late game and having Tek Tier gear is very helpful.

This will help you take on The Overseer, the final boss of the game. Tek Tier gear will also make you stronger in PvP against other players.
