Video games, since their inception, have been the realm of fantasy with a plethora of superhuman abilities. But who are the strongest characters of all time? Few names come to mind. From Kirby to Kratos, we’ll cover them all

Master Chief – HALO

HALO fans take no offense at this ranking. This is after all the “strongest of all time” section and purely being on this list says a lot about a certain character. Master Chief is the protagonist in the Halo series aka John-117.

His first appearance came in a 2001 game titled Halo: Combat Evolved. Since then, he has remained as the key character for the franchise appearing in books, movies, games, and most recently, TV series. His main attribute is that he is considered to be a supersoldier, more commonly referred to as “Spartan”. Spartans are bred for combat and as such they thrive in violent environments.

Death – Darksiders 2

Darksiders 2 was a popular game when it first came out in 2012. In the story, you play as one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, Death. A being transcending life, Death hails as one of the most powerful video game characters of all time.

Although significantly weakened in the story, at the beginning of the game, Death is still not to be messed with as he obliterates everything before him.

It is worth mentioning that in the Darksiders comics, Death is the only one able to defeat War and even cut off his arm while doing so.

Starkiller – Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Also known by his birth name as Galen Marek, Starkiller is one of the most powerful, if not THE most powerful character in Star Wars of all time. First introduced to the franchise in 2008, Starkiller was raised as Darth Vader’s apprentice with one singular purpose – to overthrow the Emperor.

In the game, Starkiller defeats 4 of the Jedis, Darth Vader himself, and even the emperor. He mastered 7 variations of lightsaber combat and had God-like powers of the Force. On one account he pulled a Star Destroyer from the sky thus demonstrating his overwhelming abilities.

Kratos – God of War

As the name suggests, the God killer himself ranks as the second most powerful character of all time. Being at the crux of the God of War franchise, or better yet, being the franchise, Kratos is a Spartan who kills his own family after being tricked by the God Ares, the original God of War.

After avenging his family by killing Ares, Kratos becomes the new God of War with superhuman abilities such as strength and speed. Often judging himself for his actions, Kratos displays an immense psychological depth to the character and often engages in morally questionable activities throughout the series.

Kirby

Who in their right mind would think of Kirby when talking about the strongest video game characters of all time? Well…we did. With his first appearance, 31 years ago (older than me…), Kirby is the embodiment of raw power and God-like abilities.

In the lore, Kirby uses his powers to save Dream Land from the evil king Dedede. For those questioning how could Kirby ever defeat Kratos. We’ll just say…Kirby can suck Kratos in, thus becoming a God of War himself. GG ez Kratos.
