Unlike its prequel, Darkest Dungeon 2 now lets you have pets that you can obtain to enjoy a handful of amazing benefits.
As far as we know, there are a total of 10 obtainable pets in the game. Each of them offers a unique buff that can benefit your entire party. But to do so, you have to obtain them first.
This guide will show you how to do so.
How to Unlock Pets in Darkest Dungeon 2
In order to unlock pets in Darkest Dungeon 2, all you have to do is head to the Altar of Hope. From there, select the Intrepid Coast section and then look for the Companionship tab.
Here, you’ll be able to unlock pets by using a certain amount of Candles of Hope. As you can see, there are a total of 10 slots which indicates the total number of pets you can unlock.
After unlocking a pet, you can then purchase it from the Provisioner for 1 relic. However, you can only see up to three of the pets you unlocked.
Do note that this is random, so if you have unlocked all 10 pets, you can only see 3 of them at once.
Once you have obtained the pet that you want, you can then equip it via the Wainwright at the end. You can only have one pet at a time, and once you equipped it, there won’t be any way to change it during your expedition.
That said, here are all the pets you can unlock in the game:
Crimson Tick
Hatchling Crocodilian
Larval Carrion Eater
Mucilaginous Slime
Pygmy Pliskin
Orphan Wolf Cub
Reanimated Rabbit
Shrieker Chick
Shambler’s Spawn
Unnatural Owlet
Luckily, the game gives you the option to rename your pets however you want. To do so, simply head to the Pet tab which is right next to the Goals tab.
