Darkest Dungeon 2 is as challenging as the first game was, but you can alleviate the difficulty with a strong team composition.
With a variety of heroes to pick from, some players might be overwhelmed by choice. However, most heroes have a clear role they excel at and some RPG team-building guidelines still apply in this game.
In this guide, we’ll give you some recommendations for making strong teams and tell us what’s the best team overall.
Best Team Composition in Darkest Dungeon 2
Overall, a good team composition should consist of a damage dealer, a tank, and some support heroes that can heal or apply status effects.
The best composition would look something like this:
Front: Leper, Hellion
Second: Man-at-Arms
Third: Jester, Grave-Robber, or Occultist
Back: Plague Doctor or Vestal
Note that this line-up is read from right to left, with the rightmost slot being the front. This is because of how characters are oriented during combat.
If you follow these guidelines, you should have an extremely strong team. Of course, feel free to experiment with moving the heroes around and using heroes that we didn’t mention, like the Highwayman.
A particularly strong team, and possibly the best overall currently is Leper, Man-at-Arms, Occultist, and Plague Doctor.
The Leper
The Leperis an absolute beast capable of dishing out insane damage as long as he stays in the frontmost slot of your team.
The Man-at-Arms
The Man-at-Arms will be your tank, drawing attention to himself while shielding himself and retaliating. Darkest Dungeon veterans won’t be disappointed, the MAA is still extremely powerful in the sequel!
The Occultist
The Occultist will be your first support hero. He can dish out damage to the enemy’s back rows with his spells, while also applying status effects to them. On top of that, he can also heal your team.
The Plague Doctor
Lastly, the Plague Doctor will be your other support. She can inflict Poison and Stun on enemies, clear debuffs on your team, and also provide some healing. Just an all-around strong supportive hero.
This team should be able to get you through a lot of the game, though you might need to change your composition to face more specific challenges. Nonetheless, you now know what to look for!
