One of the things that heavily impact the replayability of Triangle Strategy is its multiple endings. These endings are shaped depending on the choices you make early on in the game.
The problem is that it’s hard to know which choices you should make to get a specific ending on your first playthrough.
Which is why in this guide, we’ll talk about Triangle Strategy’s branching paths and decide which is the best route to take. Let’s get started.
Best Route to Use | Branching Paths Explained in Triangle Strategy
To start, Triangle Strategy has four different endings. Three of them are considered “regular” endings while the other one is a “True Ending”. In case you’re wondering, you can only unlock the fourth ending by making specific choices in your playthrough.
Here’s a brief overview of each of the endings:
Benedict Ending – This ending sees Serenoa becoming the heir of Glenbrook. To achieve this ending, you have to agree with Benedict’s plan and become allies with Aesfrost. This will prompt Roland to leave your party.
Frederica Ending – For this one, you have to go with Frederica, causing Benedict to leave and remain in the Wolffort Demene.
Roland Ending – As the name implies, you have to go with Roland’s plan. This will cause Frederica to leave the party.
True Ending – This one is a bit complex, but the gist is that Serenoa tries to come up with a solution that can benefit everyone on the team. As such, none of them will leave your party and each will even lead a party of their own.
The Best Route to Follow
Taking the best route means you’ll be able to finish your playthrough in the most efficient manner possible. You’ll eventually arrive at the point where you have multiple routes to choose from for the ending.
NOTE: This is a spoiler-heavy article, so if you’re playing the game for the first time and don’t want to get spoiled, I advise against reading this.
Nonetheless, we’re not going to cover a specific ending. Instead, we’ll just have a look at the branching paths that you’ll encounter. At the same time, pick the best routes you can follow. Here they are:
Chapters 3-6
In these chapters, your choice will be between Aesfrost and Hyzante. Luckily, your choice won’t really matter that much at this point since the point will just reconverge later on. Nonetheless, each of these choices will grant you access to a recruitable character to join your team.
Personally, I would go for Aesfrost to see your in-laws and get Rudolph Mueller, a powerful archer that could make for a good addition to your team. Going for Hyzante allows you to recruit Corentine Jenner who is a mage capable of using ice magic.
Chapters 7-8
In chapter 7, you’ll have to decide whether to give up Prince Roland or stand in defiance. The best decision for this one would be to refuse to give up Roland and defend him instead. Doing so will cause you to go against the army of General Avlora which is made of lots of Aesfrost soldiers.
On the other hand, if you choose to give up Roland, you will have to go up against the Falkes domain and fight Landroi. It’s worth noting that your choice in this part won’t affect your branching path that much. That’s because your paths will simply reconverge later on.
Chapters 9-10
As you arrive at chapter 9, you’ll be faced with choosing between smuggling illegal salt which is Minister Sorsely’s trade, and exposing his illegal salt trade. If you choose to help Sorsely, you’ll deliver the salt which will then take you to Aesfrost.
On your way, you will get ambushed by Sycras near Twinsgate. This choice actually matters if you want to get to the route in chapter 10 where you’ll be delivering the salt to Svarog.
Then, you’ll have to ask for his help, but in order to do so, you will be faced with two choices. The first is to reveal the true identity of Roland to him. This will allow you to recruit Svarog as an ally later on. The second is to hide Roland’s true identity which will then cause you to fight in an arena.
Meanwhile, if you go the other choice which is to expose Sorsely’s illegal salt trade, then you need to collect evidence. Failure to collect enough evidence will force you to fight in trial by combat.
Chapters 11-13
In chapter 11, you’ll have to decide whether to defend the Roselle or give it away. If you go for the first option, you can then recruit Trish to your team. On the other hand, if you go for the second option, you instead get Travis. Onward to chapter 13, the choices you make at this point won’t really have an impact on the story.
Chapter 15
This chapter provides you with three different choices. First is to head over to Wolffort which will allow you to recruit Milo.
The second thing you need to do is to remain in the crown city which unlocks Cordelia as a recruitable character. And the third is to investigate the Roselle village which will then allow you to recruit either Travis or Trish to your party.
Chapter 17
As the final chapter of the game, chapter 17 is where you make the biggest decision so far. If you want to get the True Ending, then you need to go with Benedict, Frederica, or Roland’s plans.
Regardless of your choice, this will ultimately lead you to the game’s ending. If you manage to obtain the true ending, then you can recruit General Avlora to your party.
