Though liches are a staple of fantasy RPGs, few games allow you to become one. Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous gives you this option by integrating it with the Mythic Path you’ll choose after a specific moment in the story. But in order to have this possibility, you’ll have to do a few things beforehand…

Short answer – You’ll have to return a wand found in Leper’s Smile to the lich living in the Lost Chapel’s basement. But, there are a few smaller steps you’ll have to take in order to even meet this lich. So, here’s the long answer, describing each step:

Act I

You can follow most of the main quest in Act I normally until you reach the tower of Estrod. There, go to the basement and talk with Teldon, the curator. Talk with him and exploit every possible dialogue option (without killing him, obviously). He’ll mention something about a missing wand…

That wand is located in the Lepers Smile location. As you’ll be doing the main quest, you should reach a place with the vescavor queen. Next to her is a hatch that you can enter. It will take you to a cave, filled with more bug demons and some undead.

Follow the left wall here, fighting the many Wights guarding the area. As you’ll get closer to the wand, there’ll be more and more undead enemies. The wand itself is in the glowing, wooden box at the end of the cave, in a location with some water, more wights, and a lot of resources to pick up. Note that the enemies here will respawn infinitely until you’ll take the wand from the box.

You’ll be presented with a few choices once you’ll interact with the box. Do not pick “destroy the ominous item”, as this option will make it impossible to become a Lich. Once the Wand is in your inventory, you can get back to the main story, until you’ll get to the Lost Chapel.

Once you’ll reach the chapel, as long as you followed all the steps, a portion of the left wall should open, revealing a staircase. Follow it to the basement, where you’ll meet Zacharius the Lich. He will propose a deal – his Wand for great power. Accept it to unlock the lich Mythic Path.

After doing a portion of the main quest, every so often you’ll receive a “mythic level”. The first two are always the same and have no effect on your future build. But, the third mythic level, received after the Siege of Drezen, will ask you to choose one of the Mythic Paths, determining what your new god-like abilities will be. If you’ve done all the steps above, one of these should allow you to become a lich.
