In our playthrough, we have come up with a few tips and tricks that everyone must have to give a better playing experience in Manor Lords.

Top Tips You Should Know Before Starting in Manor Lords

The game demo that was launched this October showcased Manor Lords Beautifully. The Game, which will later be available on Steam, describes it as a strategy game that allows you to experience the life of a medieval lord.

Starting as a small village, you will have to manage your land and turn it into a bustling city. You will have to manage your resources and production chains and later, expand your lands through conquest.

The Art of Pausing

To help you get started, the first tip that we could give you is to use the Pause button. The game runs in real-time so as you explore the various tooltips and later plan your village layout, you might run out of food and have your villagers grumbling.

Use the pause button every time you start planning and play it when everything you want to do has been set.

Layout your village by building roads

Unlike other city-building games, roads are free to construct. Keep track of building sizes and plan your layout accordingly. Roads can make mapping your city easier so use them to set up your plots more efficiently.

Construct New Buildings According to Quest Objectives

Every game has a start-out quest. Doing these objectives will familiarise you with the game and give you rewards that are specific in helping you finish the next set of objectives.

Try to do the starting quest first and explore with other building types when you have the resource-gathering quests done.

Assign Peasants to gather different kinds of resources

Constructing buildings is only one part for you to advance, you will also have to assign your villagers to gather resources. Otherwise, your villagers will become idle and will end up consuming your food resource without the means to replenish your supplies.

Chop down trees from areas you want cleared

Trees will be plentiful when you start on in your game. To reclaim land efficiently for you to have space to build additional buildings, have your villagers gather wood from woody areas you want to be cleared for you to build additional buildings once the area is cleared.

Assign gatherers and hunters to areas where there are suitable resources

Although you can assign your foragers and hunters anywhere on the map, it’s best to maximize their resource gathering by assigning them to areas that are suitable to their task.

Send food gatherers to areas with the berries icon and game hunters on the bear foot icon indicating game.

Doing this will yield more resources and is a must as you expand your village.

Free up Villagers to assign them to new tasks

Keep track of all your villagers and their assigned jobs. As the game progresses, you will have to build houses for your village to increase your workforce.

Setting up construction work while there are no available villagers to work on it will leave the plot of land unfinished.

If you lack the manpower to build, simply unassign a villager from their work and assign them to construction.

Also, check if you have idle villagers and assign them to tasks to be more efficient and make your village progress faster.

Keep track of the Seasons

There are four seasons in Medieval Lords. Spring, Summer, Winter and Autumn. Plan villager jobs according to the seasons. Find a suitable time for farming, hunting and gathering berries.

Build House Extensions

When you have the resources available, you should build house extensions for your villagers. There are 3 starting extension types for the houses so villagers can gather additional resources for themselves as well as for the village.

Upgrades will be available and one of the prerequisites for upgrading will be a variety of food choices. By Constructing home extensions, you will be able to upgrade your houses when all the requirements are met.

Check the Alert Banners

Occasionally, red banners will appear on the top of your screen. These are alert notifications that tell you what you need to prioritise for your village.

 Be mindful of these notifications and resolve them quickly so you won’t have a hard time once the season changes or before you run out of specific resources.

Houses bring additional workers

The last tip we have for you is to remember that workers can only increase once you build Villager Houses. Many people get confused when they see a high number in their population and yet have a small number of available workers.

One house creates one worker no matter how much population you have. Planning your village layout carefully so you can construct more houses is key to increasing your village workforce.
