Place of Breath is one objective for the Dual Evidence quest you get in Sumeru.

Place of Breath Quest Guide in Genshin Impact

To reach the Place of Breath, teleport to the Khemenu Temple’s Teleport Waypoint. This one should be unlocked during the quest An Introduction to Indoor Archaeology.

Run forward and upstairs to the big room. In there, take to the left corridor past the huge pillar holding a flame.  You’ll come up to a door with a book next to it – interact and get the door open. Head inside and dropdown.

You’ll be in a room with a Primal Beam. Rotate that Cell and break the huge collections of rock to the left, this will open the door. You’ll head outside the door, drop down to the ground, and head inside a cavern. Keep advancing until you come up to a ramp you’ll go up to.

Your marker will lead you to a triangular entrance. A bit past it there’s a Teleport Waypoint.

Sekhem Hall

The place you enter will be called Sekhem Hall. At the very beginning, there’s a Primal Ember. Release it and follow, making sure to not fall in your chase. The Ember will stop a second time near at the end of the hall, at the corner of a platform. Get close to it and it will go down. This time, do not follow it. Just stay over the edge watching it move down until it gets to a pillar.

Once it’s there, run back following your marker, and take to the square-shaped room of the left. Take to the left again and advance in a straight line to the Primal Ember at the end of the rooms.

Release it and follow, the Ember will do the guidance. Once it activates a floor panel, be prepared to glide as that panel will disappear, leaving you to fall.

Getting all the Primal Embers

Another Ember awaits below – release and quickly move to the room of the left, where a fan is blowing. Deactivate it by interacting with the book: if your Ember comes in contact with the air it will disappear and you can pick it again from the pillar. After the Ember makes it through, follow until it makes a floor panel disappear and drop again. Yet another Ember waits for you to release it.

With this one you won’t have to deactivate anything, but the room it leads you into has two enemies. Take care of them and release the previously locked Ember.

Before following on the Embers you got, collect a last one by walking towards a blocked door and opening it by interacting with the book. Inside the room there’s an elevator you can activate that will get you another Ember, and now, you can just follow and release them any time they get caught in a pillar. This will guide you back to the main room, where you’ll get Clearance for your efforts.
