Dead Island 2’s version of Los Angeles is littered with safes and lockboxes that you can open and loot. However, you will usually require a key! They aren’t just gonna leave the safes open after all.

Michael’s Safe is one of the first safes you might stumble upon in the game since it’s right in one of the earliest regions.

In this guide, we’ll tell you how to find the key to open this safe.

You can find the key and the safe within Beverly Hills. You’ll get access to this region pretty early on in the story during the “O’ Michael Where Art Thou” main story quest.

The safe rests inside the open house in the northern part of Beverly Hills southeast of the house with the bright red roof.

As for the key, you will need to find a special named zombie around the house. The zombie is called Michael’s Protégé, and you can recognize him by his fedora and lack of pants.

Michael’s Protégé is a simple walker, so he shouldn’t pose much of a threat. Kill him however you see fit; just don’t get swarmed by him and the other walkers in the area.

Check the corpse after you’ve killed him. You should find Michael’s safe key laying on the ground. Just interact with it to pick it up.

After that, head inside the house and look for Michael’s safe. The safe should show up on your compass and map, so it should be pretty easy to find.

Use the key to open the safe and you should get a rare-quality weapon.

Nothing too fancy, but it should come in handy in the early stages of the game! That’s everything there is to know about Michael’s Safe.

Also a big fan of Yakuza/Like a Dragon, Deadly Premonition, Zero Escape, and Dead Rising, among others. Considers Lost Judgment and Sekiro to both be masterpieces.
