How to Download Dark and Darker 2nd Update

Dark and Darker is an upcoming medieval battle royale game, and you can play it right now as part of its playtest. However, you will need to keep the game updated manually.

Due to various reasons, the developers are relying on delivering the game manually through their own means instead of using Steam.

Worry not, we’ll try to make things easier for you! In this guide, we’ll tell you how to get the latest version of the playtest.

How to Download the Dark and Darker Playtest Update

You will need two programs to download the new Dark and Darker updates.

First is a torrent client. We recommend qBittorent which can be downloaded here:

Next is Discord so that you can enter the game’s official Discord server. You can get Discord here:

Once you have Discord setup, you will need to enter the game’s Discord server via this address:

https://discord.com/invite/darkanddarker

Open the Community Announcements channel to find all downloads for the current Dark and Darker playtest.

However, these links are all encoded! Don’t worry, as you can decode them using this website:

https://www.base64decode.org/

Copy the encrypted links into the top textbox on the website and click on “Decode”. You shouldn’t need to mess with any other settings.

The bottom textbox should now display the decrypted magnet link, which is what you need to put into your torrent client.

Start your torrent client. At the top left, look for a blue chain icon and click on it. This will open a new window that lets you add the magnet link you got from the website.

Just copy and paste the link onto this new window and press the download button.

Once the download completes, right-click on it and then choose “Open destination folder” from the drop-down menu. This will lead you straight to the update installer.

Note that you should already have Dark and Darker Playtest 5 and its first Hotfix update installed. Otherwise, the update won’t work!

Run the executable and install the update. Wait for it to finish and you’re all set! You can use this method to update the game again anytime it’s needed.
