158 articlesThe Abyssal Hull is one of the upgrades you can unlock for your gondola during the “Old Man and Whale” event in Wuthering Waves 2.1.
This is the second hull upgrade you can get, and the first that isn’t tied to a tutorial. It’s required to continue the event’s quest and explore Abyssal areas. You’ll need to meet quite a few prerequisites to be able to get it, though!
In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to do to unlock the Abyssal Hull upgrade.
How to Unlock Abyssal Hull | Wuthering Waves 2.1
You can unlock the Abyssal Hull in Wuthering Waves 2.1 as long as you unlocked all the previous Fishing Abilities preceding it. These are the abilities you need to unlock first and their material requirements:

All Mount Gjallar Tape of Last Words in Wuthering WavesMay 13, 2026- Advanced Hull – Unlocked automatically as part of the event’s tutorial quest.
- Capacity Upgrade I – Old Compass x20, Palm Tree Log x30, Metal Debris x20, Riccioli Fishery Coins x1500.
- Hydraulic Capstan – Old Compass x10, Coast Flax x30, Metal Debris x20, Riccioli Fishery Coins x2000.
- Reaction Thruster – Old Compass x10, Palm Tree Log x20, Coast Flax x30, Riccioli Fishery Coins x1000.
You can get every one of these materials by completing Event Requests during the “Old Man and the Whale” event. You can also purchase them from Planck’s Dock Shop for Riccioli Fishery Coins. As for the Riccioli Fishery Coins, you can get them by selling anything you fish whenever you’re back at the dock.
Once you’ve unlocked all of these Fishing Abilities, you’ll be able to unlock the Abyssal Hull. You’ll simply need Universal Compass x1 and 3000 Riccioli Fishery Coins. You’ll get the Universal Compass automatically as a reward from the event’s main quests. Just progress the event story to get it!
When you’ve got everything, just go to the Fishing Ability menu when you’re at a dock and purchase the Abyssal Hull. It’s the same process as all the previous upgrades you got, really.
So, there you have it, that’s all you need to do to unlock the Abyssal Hull upgrade for the “Old Man and Whale” event in Wuthering Waves 2.1. You can now freely visit the “Abyssal” areas and fish some new types of fish!
