Dragaryle is one of the bosses of the Altar of Calanthia raid in Throne & Liberty, but the Difficult Mode version of the fight is basically undoable if you don’t skip its main mechanic. Whether bugged or people just haven’t figured it out yet, the lightning orb pillar mechanic in this fight seems to be impossible to do. Nonetheless, you can skip it entirely with a certain method, which we’ll detail in this guide!
Requirements to Skip Mechanic Dragaryle Hard / Difficult Mode Guide | Throne & Liberty
To be able to skip the main mechanic of the Difficult Mode Dragaryle fight, you and your party will need to have a very high DPS. Since there’s no way to really check DPS pre-emptively, as there’s no DPS meter system in the game, your metric for DPS will be the boss itself.
If you have decent DPS, you should be able to get Dragaryle to 89% of its HP before it does its three-rings attack. That is when Dragaryle stomps the ground three times in the middle of the arena to summon three ring-shaped AoEs you need to avoid. If you and your party get it to 89% before doing that once, your DPS is good enough.
This will also skip the first ring attack, pushing Dragaryle into its Fear attack. For this attack, all players in the raid party will get surrounded by a purple circle. To avoid it, everyone should spread out so that the circles don’t overlap. Dragaryle will do two Fury attacks you need to block, followed by a third one that you need to dodge.
Additionally, as another DPS metric, you want to get Dragaryle to around 51% within 2 minutes and 50 seconds. If you take any longer than that, your party doesn’t have enough DPS to finish the boss off! When you finally have Dragaryle at 50.1% to 51.0% HP, you’ll need to wait for the colored pillars mechanic.
Colored Pillars and the 50% DPS Check
Later on in the fight, Dragaryle will summon 6 pillars called Statue of Oblivion across the arena. At first, all you need to do is interact with all of the pillars. Just walk up to them and interact with each one. After that, Dragaryle will leap to a player and then go back to the middle of the arena. He’ll follow this up with the three-ring AoE, which you just need to avoid.
Now, the 6 pillars across the arena and all players will be marked with either a red triangle or a blue star. Players who match a pillar’s symbol can approach it and block its Fury attack to switch the pillar’s color. The goal here is to make all pillars match the same color. It’s a good idea to coordinate this pre-emptively with your party, such as deciding to focus on turning them all blue beforehand.
When the final pillar is switched and all 6 have the same color, they’ll disappear. This will briefly stun Dragaryle, letting the whole raid party go all out on attacks. Commit fully to DPS and get Dragaryle’s HP well below 50% while it’s stunned. You need to go all out on damage to skip the mechanic!
If you do this right, you’ll notice that Dragaryle just resumes the same attack patterns as before. If you failed the DPS check, Dragaryle will instead summon lightning orbs and pillars, as well as grow wings. In that case, you’ve failed to skip the mechanic and need better DPS, sadly.
Finishing the Fight after the Mechanic Skip | Throne & Liberty: Difficult Mode Dragaryle Raid
After you and your party successfully skip the mechanic, Dragaryle pretty much continues the fight as it did until now. There are no new attacks to keep an eye out for or anything like that. However, your party still needs to keep the DPS up as much as possible as you’re effectively on a timer.
Eventually, Dragaryle will summon the lightning orb pillars you previously skipped, as shown above. However, the mechanic will be bugged, preventing you from doing it properly. Instead, you and your party will have 60 seconds to focus on dealing damage.
Kill the boss before it finishes using the bugged mechanic and you’ll win! Fail to kill it off within 60 seconds, though, and your whole party will wipe.
This method effectively makes the entire fight pretty much just a DPS check, as we’ve mentioned before. However, since the lightning orb pillar mechanic seems to be buggy even when done “properly”, this seems to be the only way to beat the boss currently. We hope it gets patched, but this method works in the meantime…
Nonetheless, now you know everything you need to skip the mechanic during the Difficult Mode version of the Dragaryle boss in Throne & Liberty. If you feel your DPS is a bit lacking for this, you might want to check out how to get and upgrade Heroic-grade gear. It might give you the edge you need!
