Solasta: Crown of the Magister is an RPG based on the 5th edition Dungeons & Dragons rules and developed by Tactical Adventures. On November 14, 2022, the Inner Strength DLC introduced more features to the game, including new classes. One of those is the Warlock class and its subclasses. And that’s about the Warlock that we’re going to talk about today!

Warlock Complete Class Guide – Solasta CoTM

Warlocks are Charisma casters—similar to sorcerers—so you might want to choose a Half-Elf the Island Halfling, or the Dragonborn as your class since those two have Charisma.

Similar to the Cleric and the Sorcerer, the Warlock also gets their subclass—their Patron—at first level.

Take a moment to consider the additional spells and attack/defence bonus granted by each one. Ultimately, they all have their pros and cons, so there isn’t one decision that will make you too stronger or too weaker.

Next, you’ll choose your background. You can go with Occultist, which is original to the Warlock, or you can weigh the advantages of other choices.

Sellsword, for example, grants you proficiency with medium armour, which the Warlock can’t normally wear, while Lawkeeper makes you more efficient with melee weapons.

For your Character Status, keep in mind your Charisma and Constitution, which modifies your Hit Points, making you tougher to kill.

In the Proficiencies tab, Deception and Intimidation are good since you’re a Charisma-based character.

If you’re playing through the base game’s campaign, remember to check Terran and Old Tirmarian in the Languages section. If you’re playing the DLC, mark the Giant language too.

For your Cantrips, the must-have is the Eldritch Blast. It’s a good spell for other classes, but it shines in the hands of the Warlock due to invocations that can buff up your blast. Feel free to study the cantrips and choose your second one.

Unlike other classes, the Warlock only gets two Spell choices. Great choices include Malediction and Hellish Rebuke.

Once you level your character up to Level 2, you’ll unlock Invocations. Agonizing Blast is a great choice since it adds your Charisma to the damage you deal with Eldritch Blast.

Devil’s Sight is a good Invocation to pair with Agonizing Blast. Lots of Invocations will be locked until you gain more levels, so keep coming back to see what you can use to boost your Warlock.

Level 3 grants you access to Pacts, and you’ll have three choices: Pact of the Tome, Pact of the Blade, and Pact of the Chain.

Pact of the Chain is the most interesting unless you’re going for a melee Warlock, which gives you the ability to bind supernatural creatures, gaining special features for a short while such as resistance.

You’re also given the option to unlearn one of your spells, which you can now replace for a Level 2 Spell. Hold Person with Misty Step or Scorching Rayor Shatter are good combinations.

At Level 4, you unlock Bonus Feat and Ability Score.

For your Bonus Feat, your best bets are on Flawless Concentration, which allows you to keep your Malediction even if you take damage, or Powerful Cantrip, which deals half damage to an enemy even if they miss your Cantrip.

Time to choose another Spell! You might want Misty Step or Scorching Rayor Shatter, depending on which you didn’t choose on Level 2. Another good option is Darkness if you have Devil’s Sight.

Level 5 unlocks Level 3 Spells. If you have access to Fireball, that’s a good choice. If not, Counterspell or Fear are good too.

Level 8 allows you to choose another Feat, so you can select either Powerful Cantrip or Flawless Concentration, depending on which one you chose the first time.

All the way to Level 12, you’ll be unlocking new Spells, Incantations, and Feats. Every time you level up, you’ll have the chance to replace your chosen skills.

It’s worth taking some time to analyse each new (and old) skill to choose the best for your character and play style. That’s the beauty of RPGs, after all—each character is unique!
