The Ranch serves as your main base of operations in the game. It used to be called the Conservatory back in the previous Slime Rancher game but it basically serves the same purpose. Here is where you farm slimes to earn Newbucks which you can then use to buy a variety of stuff in the game.

However, if you want to earn as many Newbucks as quickly as possible, you want to maximize your ranch’s layout. In this guide, I’ll show you the best layout you can use for your ranch.

Best Layout for Your Conservatory in Slime Rancher 2

Before we start, I would like to give credit to Epokk for this guide. You can check out his video for a full rundown on how to set up the perfect base.

The main part of your ranch will contain 8 slots which makes it unique from the rest which only has 5 slots. To start, you’ll want to use 4 gardens as well as 4 corrals. At the same time, you’ll want all of your slimes to be Largo slimes that belong to the same species.

For example, you can go for all Rock Crystal Largos and then combine them with 4 different slimes. You want to focus on slimes that will help you unlock upgrades that will help you expand your ranch.

Expansions to Focus On

Once you have unlocked enough stuff, you’ll want to buy The Den for your very first expansion for 1800 Newbucks. In case you’re wondering, The Den is designed for housing light-sensitive slimes without using a solar shield. You can then place 2 corrals and 3 gardens inside.

You can place Largos of Angler Batty and Ringtail Phosphor on one corral and Angle Batty and Pink Phosphor on another. Then, for the gardens, simply place Cuberry and Pomegranite which you’ll feed to the slimes.

Your next expansion will be The Archway where you can place 2 corrals, 2 gardens, and 1 incinerator. Here, you can place some fire slimes, and you even have access to carrots which you can just throw into the incinerator to produce food for the slimes.

If you want to focus on fire slimes, you can instead ignore the corrals and place 3 incinerators alongside 2 gardens.

Next is The Gulley which you can buy for 1800 Newbucks. Here, you can place 2 corrals alongside 3 gardens. However, there are not that many features in this expansion, and you can just house any slime you want inside of it.

The last one is The Tidepools which is quite more expensive than the last one at 3500 Newbucks. It doesn’t have a lot of exciting features to boast of, except for natural water nearby which makes it truly unique. This makes the expansion perfect for housing Puddle Slimes, among others.

Here, you can just place 3 coops, 1 corral, and 1 silo. This will help you produce a continuous supply of meat for any of your carnivorous Gordo Slimes.
