The Endgame game mode Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is still one of the fastest ways to unlock exclusive cosmetics for your operators. The No Fear skins, in particular, are still the most recognizable rewards tied to the mode.

However, the system has expanded beyond the original set of unlocks since launch, and there have been additional operators with their own No Fear skin variants.

If you’re trying to get through the boss fight, watch the final cutscene, or earn every free operator skin tied to this mode, this guide walks through the entire run from start to finish: just the steps, the mechanics, and what you need to know before diving in.

Understanding Endgame’s Operator Slots

Before you even get to the island, it helps to understand how Endgame handles operators. You only get four operator slots, and each slot tracks its own skill rating, abilities, and progression. None of this transfers between characters. If one operator is sitting at a combat rating of 25, another might still be level 4.

Weapons are handled differently, too. Endgame doesn’t let you stash guns like other games you may have played. Whatever weapon you bring in stays with you across operators, but if you switch your main loadout gun, you lose any rarity upgrades earned in the last run. So any weapons you replace in your loadout will be discarded. You always keep one evac’d weapon and your melee slot, but that’s it.

Exotic Weapons & How They Drop

Rarity caps out at Exotic, and the only way to get these is by completing Tier 4 contracts or pulling them off elites in the final fight. The catch is harsh: you can only exfil with one Exotic, even if you find multiple. So you need to pick wisely.

How Free Operator Skins Work

Right now, there are 21 playable characters, and nine of them have skins tied directly to beating the boss:

  • Anderson
  • Wei Lin
  • Vermaak
  • Zaveri
  • Jurado
  • Grimm
  • Faulkner
  • Razor
  • Kagan

Vault Edition operators and any Zombies characters do not get Endgame skins.

Beat the boss while playing as one of the nine listed above, and that character immediately unlocks their outfit. If you want all nine, you’ll have to repeat the boss fight nine separate times.

Where to Find the Boss

Dr. Falkner is located in the Protocol zone. This is a self-contained island at the bottom left of the map, just under the Listening Post. Once you enter Tier 4, the recommended combat rating is around 45, but you can scrape by in the high 30s if you’ve got teammates carrying some of the weight.

Endgame runs on a shared, persistent server. Sometimes you’ll load in and find other squads already pushing the boss. Linking up with them can create a much easier fight.

Step 1: Clearing the Toxic Growth

The match starts with a cleanup objective. Protocol is loaded with infected spores, inside buildings and out on the rocks. They spawn in clusters, and you have to clear every group until the progress bar hits 100%.

My best tip for this stage is that one or two players should focus on spores, while the rest keep the zombies and elites away from them. This step can go much faster with a launcher, since a single blast clears an entire cluster.

Step 2: Fighting Dr. Falkner

Once the island is cleared, Dr. Falkner spawns in his disciple form, backed up by elites. Positioning matters more here than anything else. Rooftops and shoreline rocks give you angles without letting the horde collapse on you from behind.

Armor caches and ammo drops are scattered around the island, so you need to use them constantly. Orange-rarity weapons and Exotic launchers shred his health bar faster than anything else. The arrow launcher in particular fires fast enough to keep steady pressure on him.

If you’re running abilities, Active Camo is one of the strongest options in this fight since it lets you reset aggro and land clean crits. Drone pods, War Machines, and hand cannons also help keep the area under control.

Step 3: Confirming the Kill

Once Faulner drops, you must confirm the kill. That triggers the final cutscene, which sets up the Guild’s next move and hints at where the story is going. After the cutscene, the match moves directly into exfil.

If you were playing as one of the nine skin-eligible operators, you’ll get your free outfit right here.

The Fastest Way to Unlock the Skins

The original approach relied mainly on slowly clearing objectives, but the current meta focuses on a more aggressive approach after a bunch of balance patches rolled out this year.

To be specific, most players now rush Combat Level 30 as quickly as possible, farm Growth clusters for resources, and use high-mobility builds before forcing the Falkner encounter early.

If you’re farming various No Fear skins in a single session, I recommend focusing more on movement and survivability than damage.

Are the Skins Still Worth Grinding?

Even after several seasonal updates, the No Fear skins are still one of the better free cosmetic rewards in Black Ops 7. They’re recognizable, tied to one of the game’s hardest activities, and significantly easier to earn now than they were during launch month.

With faster leveling methods, stronger setups, and more efficient Endgame routes, unlocking every No Fear variant is much less time-consuming than before.

Today, you can realistically achieve several operator unlocks in a single extended session instead of grinding them individually across multiple days.
