Pokémon Champions lets you bring your existing Pokémon into the game from Pokémon HOME, which means years of collecting across Scarlet and Violet, Legends Z-A, and other compatible titles can finally be put to use in ranked competitive play. The transfer system works a bit differently to what most people expect though, so it is worth understanding before you start.

The main thing to know is that your Pokémon do not permanently leave HOME when you send them to Champions. They are considered visitors and can be sent back whenever you want. The other thing worth noting is that the whole process has to be started from inside Pokémon HOME on your Nintendo Switch, not from within Champions itself. In this guide, I will walk you through the entire process step by step.

Transferring Pokémon Between Pokémon HOME & Pokémon Champions

Since the process starts from inside Pokémon HOME, open that up first. Once you are in, look for the Pokémon Champions icon in the bottom right corner of the screen and select it. It will ask if you want to link your account, select “Yes”.

After that, you will be able to see all the Pokémon available for transfer. Select whichever Pokémon you want to send over, or pick multiple if you want to bring in a whole team at once. Once you have made your selection, press Y on your Switch. A confirmation prompt will appear, select “Yes”, and then just wait a few seconds. Your Pokémon will be sent over and ready to collect in Champions.

Here’s a short demo of how to send a Pokémon from Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Champions.

Collecting the Pokémon on Pokémon Champions

Once your Pokémon have been sent over from HOME, open up Pokémon Champions and head to the main screen. From there, select the “RECRUIT” option. Next, Select the “Collect from Pokémon HOME” option and give it a second or two to load. Once it does, you will be able to see all the Pokémon you just sent over sitting there and ready to be collected.

At the bottom of the screen you will see the “Collect from Pokémon HOME” button. Select it and a confirmation prompt will pop up. Hit “Yes” and that is all there is to it. Your visiting Pokémon will now appear in your “BOX” inside Pokémon Champions

Here’s how to collect the visiting Pokémon in Pokémon Champions.

Sending Pokémon Back to Pokémon HOME

If you want to send your visiting Pokémon back to Pokémon HOME at any point, head back to the main menu of Champions and select “RECRUIT” again. From there, select the “Send Back to Pokémon HOME” option. This will bring up a menu showing you all the visiting Pokémon that are eligible to be sent back.

Browse through and select whichever ones you want to return. You can select up to thirty at once. Once you have made your selections, press X on your Switch and a confirmation prompt will appear. Select “Yes” to confirm.

After that, open up Pokémon HOME and click on the Pokémon Champions icon in the bottom right corner. Give it a moment and your Pokémon will be returned to their HOME boxes, right where they were before the visit.

That’s It

That is everything you need to know to get your Pokémon transferred between HOME and Champions. It is not the most seamless process in the world. Given how fresh the game is there are bound to be a few hiccups along the way. A few players have already reported sync issues and the odd loading problem. Pretty expected for a brand new release. Hopefully the developers iron it out quickly. In the meantime if something goes wrong just close both apps and try again.
