Unholy Flesh and Stolen Time are two of the most frustrating debuffs you can encounter during Act 3 of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader.

These debuffs affect Abelard and Pasqal once you reunite with them in Commorragh. Even now, a lot of players still get confused about how the mechanics actually work.

In this guide, we’ll go over every current reliable method to cleanse both of these obnoxious debuffs.

How to Remove Unholy Flesh and Stolen Time for Pasqal & Abelard in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader

How To Remove Unholy Flesh & Stolen Time Debuffs in Warhammer 40K Rogue Trader

The Unholy Flesh debuff is exclusive to Pasqal due to his corrupted xenotech implants. Meanwhile, the Stolen Time debuff is exclusive to Abelard after his encounter with the Chtonos creature in Commoragh.

Both of them will have these debuffs once you reunite with them during Act 3. While both debuffs are introduced similarly, they function very differently.

Pasqal’s Unholy Flesh

First, let’s talk about Pasqal’s Unholy Flesh.

Back then, you could remove the Unholy Flesh debuff by having Pasqal go down during a fight. This will make Pasqal obtain a random Trauma, which will override Unholy Flesh.

You can then heal the Trauma once you return to your Voidship.

However, that’s no longer the reliable solution. The important part is actually your first major dialogue with Pasqal after finding him in Commorragh.

When speaking with him, a dialogue will pop up where you have to decide whether Pasqual should remove the xenotech implants or keep them.

You can convince Pasqal to remove them by using a Dogmatic dialogue option or a successful Coercion check. If successful, the debuff is replaced with a permanent trait called “Purity of the True Flesh.”

Meanwhile, if you encourage him to keep the implants, he will have the debuff permanently.

Do keep in mind that you’ll no longer be able to fully remove the debuff through Tervantias if you forego the initial decision.

This means your first major dialogue with Pasqal is effectively the only means of fully removing it.

Chtonos enemy

Alternatively, some players report that defeating the Chtonos in the lower levels of Commorrah and telling Pasqal to purge himself after the fight also cleanses the Unholy Flesh debuff.

However, this method is currently not working for the majority of players.

Abelard’s Stolen Time

Abelard’s debuff, on the other hand, is much more straightforward.

All you need to do is speak with Tervantias the Archmachinator. He resides in the Anatomical Opera in Commorrah, and you meet him as part of the main story.

For this, you need to bring one of the monster trophies you can get during arena encounters.

Once you do, speak to him and choose “Master Tervantias, I require a moment of your precious time and I am willing to pay for it”.

Then, offer to pay for Abelard’s treatment with a monster part. Some of the possible payment items include Arena Beast claws, Electro Grafts, Cameleoline Skin, and other trophies obtained during Act 3.

Tarventias dialogue

Some players reported that this option isn’t available for them, which seems to be another one of the game-breaking bugs in the game.

Fortunately, it seems that most of these bugs regarding Abelard’s treatment were fixed in later updates.

Final Thoughts

Perhaps the biggest source of confusion surrounding these debuffs is that Pasqal’s isn’t handled like a normal ailment that can be removed.

While Abelard’s debuff can be cured through Tervantias, Pasqal’s debuff is tied to his role as a character. It will be up to you whether you choose to remove the debuff or keep it.

If you plan on playing a Dogmatic playthrough, then convincing Pasqal to remove the implants is the clear choice. Meanwhile, if you’re pushing for an Iconoclast or Heretical playthrough, letting him keep them is the right choice.

Either way, understanding this distinction early on will save you from having to reload hours of progress later in Act 3.
